460 V8. Potential bargain with 460, towing package, 4-wheel discs and low miles. More pics needed, though. https://chicago.craigslist.org/wcl/cto/4571116088.html
Hmm, ad says "landau" interior......wonder if its really that Brougham type everyone screeches about? At any rate, this could be a truly full equipment car given upgraded interior, 460, trailer tow, and I see cornering lamps. Need more pics and more description.
I believe that year, Ford had 'Landau' trimmed LTD's and 'Brougham' trimmed LTD's, the Brougham being more luxurious than the Landau.
Wow, I would love to have that!!! My main concern would be the frame and undercarriage. Northern winters are very rough on cars, back then, even ones that were a couple of years old. My aunt in Detroit had a get a new car every 3 years back in the 70s because they rusted out so.
This might turn out to be a good deal for someone who wants a big wagon for towing. Appears it might have a bit of rust in the dogleg area. It's certainly not perfect, but this is one that you could probably drive for a while, and do some fixing up on the side.
In '75 LTDs came in 3 subseries: LTD, LTD Brougham, and LTD Landau (in order of increasing luxury). The Country Squire came with the Landau grille (with the hidden headlights), but what was pretty much the base interior. You could basically order it with the Brougham or Landau interior (Squire Brougham Option or Landau Luxury Group) as an extra cost option. By '78, however, Ford had dropped the middle LTD Brougham subseries and the Squire Brougham Option as well, leaving only two subseries and the one interior option. The Brougham option was nice, but the Landau Luxury Group could nearly convince you that you were driving a Lincoln. It looks like it has typical dogleg rust, but it doesn't look too terrible from the 2 -- count them, 2 -- pictures provided. For a $2K price tag and with only 41K miles, it would certainly be worth a look. If the rust is no more extensive than shown, it's worth every penny -- and maybe even a bit more.
Has this one been sitting for a while? If so it's going to need some maintenance work. Winters still are rough on cars up here if the cars aren't oiled on the bottom. I was just changing a flat tire and the jack went through part of the 2000 Caravan when my Dad got in the van.
$2000 and it has 41,000 original miles. This sounds like a great deal. He does say it needs restoration, but from the pictures, (granted there's only two), it looks to be in very nice shape. Watch, it was t-boned on the right side and the interior's been eaten by rodents.
