That owner has had those plates since around 1980, when that sequence was issued, so chances are he's had the car for a long time. Plates stay with the person in Colorado, not the car. Can't beat that for the money.
"Proper" patina is well-worn, yet presentable. This is beyond "patina"...it is now "needs restored". Patina is the way-overused word of the 2010s...
Perhaps "patina", and for that matter "presentable" is in the eye of the beholder. If this were $4k, it would scream "I'm in desperate need of restoration," but for $650, to my eye it's perfectly presentable as a survivor anywhere this side of Pebble Beach. Another entry level car for the budget strapped young wagon enthusiast/collector. Whoops! Clicking the link, I note that the page is deleted. I hope it goes to a new owner that will appreciate it properly and not use it as a paint truck/beater/derby car.
