I emailed the seller with several questions. It's been nearly a week with no reply. I will try again this week. I don't understand why people put items on craigslist, but refuse to contact potential buyers.

Thanks, Professor. It's a very impressive and rare Dodge! Some craigslist people are very weird. :disagree:

I thought that $12.5K for this generation of Mopar wagon would be more appropriate for a condition #1 preservation car -- judged very strictly. This car, it seems to me, is just a little shy of that condition. Of course, it's academic in my case as I don't have that kind of scratch to spend on a car.

On the other hand, you do have a good point. If this is someone's automotive love, the chances of being able to find another one and put it into comparable condition for less than the price of this one are pretty slim.

You're certainly right about the rarity of the big Dodge and Plymouth wagons in '77 (and most other years, too). Curiously, I've seen many more of the more expensive '77 Town & Countries, both in person and online, than Royal Monacos or Gran Furies.

This gorgeous and very rare 1977 Dodge Royal Monaco Brougham wagon is back! :bouncy: Great looking!

Slight price drop to $12,000, nor should there be much of a drop as rare as this very loaded and very scarce Dodge wagon is what it is!

I like this wagon more and more each time I look at it. I was able to get in contact with the owner. I asked several questions that he was nice enough to provide the answers for.

Below are the list of questions:

    1. How long have you owned the car? What is its history?
    2. What engine does it have?
    3. Is it all original? Any accidents?
    4. Is everything in good working order? Heat, AC, power options,
hideaway headlights, exterior and interior lights, gauges, radio, etc
    5. How old are the tires?
    6. Are the brakes in good working order?
    7. It looks like a nine passenger. Is that correct?
    8. Do you have a photo of the rear cargo area and rear facing seat?
    9. Does it have the climate control AC/Heat?
    10. Is it still equipped with the "lean burn" system?

Here are the answers he provided.

1.I have owned the car 7yrs. I do not have the history on the car [sorry]
    2. The engine is 440 C.I.D.
    3. The car is 100% original, no accidents, dents or parts replaced

    4. Everything is in working condition - except for the A/C [that was replaced with a new
system, but it works with both charges]
    5. The tires look brand new [age unknown]
    6. Brakes are fine [disk and drums - I recommend to replace master cylinder]
    7. Yes it is a nine passenger [3 seats "rows"]
    8. No I do not have a picture of the rear cargo at this time
    9. No, this is the "temp air" A/C heater original equipment

    10. No, the computer has been disconnected and converted to the old system.

    Thanks for the info, Professor.

Did we ever know the miles on the car?

I hate to continue to be the Grinch here, but:

    1. Look at pictures 6 and 9 on the craigslist ad. To me it looks like there are dents in the left front fender and rear door.

    2. How does anyone own a car for 7 years and not have any idea how old the tires are. He should at least know whether or not they're older than 7 years.

Maybe I'm nitpicking here, but, while I like this car generally, this is not my favorite model or even my favorite "generation" of Mopar. Thus, I can be a bit stringent in evaluating a car with a $12K asking price.

I was wondering the same thing about the age of the tires. :yup:

If this were a black car, we'd be discussing my newest acquisition! I sure as hell like this car. Hell, if I can sell my van, who knows???

Brochure indicates the only engine available on the Royal Monaco wagons was the 400 cu in V8. (The sedan got the 360 standard). Me thinks the seller is wrong.

I've been doing a little comparison shopping between the '77 Town and Country and the '77 Monaco.

This car is a nice driver with mileage around 65k I think. It is a fully-loaded 6 passenger wagon with the standard 440 engine. It is completely original and needs a little maintenance (AC needs charging, lean burn system still hooked up, minor rust repair needed at the lower edge of the left rear quarter panel). It also has wheels/wheel covers from a '78 Cordoba. However, the owner has the original wheel covers. Owner also knows the full history of the car and is a Mopar enthusiast. And did I mention I like fender skirts? Hahaha Price seems reasonable at $6500 (Add an additional $3-$500 for shipping)

This one is also a nice driver with only 54k miles. It is a fully loaded 9 passenger wagon. With the exception of some AC maintenance and replacement of the master cylinder, it appears to be ready to go. No rust repair needed. There is a discrepancy on the engine size. Owner knows no history of the car and doesn't strike me as a car enthusiast. No fender skirts. Hahaha Price $12,000 (Add an additional $1,000-1,200 for shipping)

Opinions, advice? Good, bad or ugly, let's have it.
