"Ward, I don't know about those wheels!?" "But June, I need something that can beat Fred Rutherford's wagon going to the country club!"
Seller is asking $8K for a drivable needs tlc/restoration wagon. And how many years back(?) I found a 57 Meteor witch had serious potential with a POS 58 and the seller wanted $10K........... Sadly both wagons are still sitting there rotting away
Drivable, yes. But the owner has clearly put some time, effort and cash into what looks to be a car that cosmetically needs paint. And the interior looked fantastic. And, as a CA car, it looks like the rust would would be almost negligible unless it lies hiding where it loks like surface rust now. Mechanicals on the other hand could still need a good deal of work, but who knows? At $8k, I don't know that they are necessarily that far out of line...
I'd paint the top in a cool kustom lace pattern with three or four different pearl colors involved. Add some scallops into the mix. Then, add some Bellflower exhaust tips, lower it in the rear just a smidgeon, and change out the wheels to a set of old Appliance Apaches or Astro Supremes. Enjoy!
It's also on Ebay with a $5500 starting bid, and no reserve. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Ford-Other-...=281219084892&pt=US_Cars_Trucks#ht_121wt_1362
I wasn't necessarily suggesting those particular colors - that was just an example to show the factory two-tone pattern on these. Saw one of these at a local show a couple of years back, would have been perfect for me - a nice orange and light beige combo. Unfortunately, no pics. EDIT: FOUND THE PICS!
Krash's picture is EXACTLY the car my Dad bought in 1958, that I replaced rockers on in 1962 as one of my first bodywork projects......
And here's a decent looking 2-tone '57 Ford wagon, also currently on Ebay. With a BIN of $10k. Looks like it has some decent rust issues that will need to be addressed, though. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Ford-Other-...c39aef21e&item=121226850846&pt=US_Cars_Trucks
