My oldest son and I took a drive in the Fury last Sunday. We were on our way to take his Great Grandfather's 52 Kieser Henry J for a jaunt to the ice cream store. As we merged onto the freeway I noticed a unique vehicle ahead of us. I know about the lore of the Oscar Mayer Wienermobile, but have never seen the real thing in person. Well, we got to see it in the flesh. Purty dern cool. My son is 5 years old, and he had never seen nor heard of the Wienermobile, so he thought it was awesome. He waved like crazy as we passed them. They waved back and tooted the horn. Was quite a great experience.
Seen them a few times over the years, in southern California, and even here in Springfield back in 2010 - probably that same one you saw. Oscar Mayer actually has a small fleet of them covering the U.S.
Thanks for the Jerry! This one looks to be a fairly late model, I wonder how many generations of them have been produced since the original? Now where's the dern Kaiser ??
We had the weinermobile show up at our workplace(sister co makes wonder bread) I also had one do the offramp thing in 1998 in pennsylvania older than that new lookin' one Fyi the hot wheels version (1998 era) is worth $20 now!
Never seen one in person, but remember the song....... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aNddW2xmZp8 I do remember this commercial though...... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JnljzqW1Pmk and, ????.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bF5p0LtF0Yo
I was sure you were going to post one of these. There are a few owners in your area who have been to recent rallys. Oh I wish I was an Oscar Mayer Weiner.......
I snapped a pic after we pulled out of the driveway and was going to take one at the ice cream shop, but forgot. Here's the view from behind the wheel of the Henry J.
