1973 Chevrolet Caprice Estate

Very nice! Interestinly optioned as well. It also lacks tilt wheel, but the power windows are a neat option. It also looks like it has two rear speakers and two front speakers. I bet it has FM radio option as well. I love that bright colored interior... I wish mine was that color instead of black.

Looks like a nice one from a distance, is it me, or up close does that paint look rough down low behind the front tire? It may just be some touch-up paint in that area.

I think that 95% of the '73 Caprice Estate wagons that were ever made were painted this color. lol.

 

Has jumped to $2076 in just the two hours since I first posted it.

 

I am torn without the power tailgate, but A/C is a must no matter what! So I think I am going to have a go at this. Really want the power gate but this is as clean as it gets, and probably one of the nicest in this price range (probably about 4-5 K when it is over perhaps) I have seen yet, and you are right Kingswood, that interior colour is beautiful. It is the same colour as my 74 Premier and 74 Statesman interiors. In Australia they called it doeskin.

 

Yeah, it is so nice, I would not let the lack of power gate stop me. Its the lack of the 3rd seat that is more of a disappointment to me. I love the '73 Caprice wagons though and the lighter interior color, so that would not stop me on this one I do not think.

It is strange, we have seen a lot of '73 Caprice Estate wagons posted lately and the '73 Caprice 2-seat wagons were rarer than the '73 Caprice 3-seat wagons that year, so it is interesting we are seeing more 2-seaters here lately. Also, so many are this color. They must have made a large run of 2-seat Caprice wagons in this color in '73. lol.

I never thought much about a power gate being a must when I was looking for a clamshell wagon. I actually thought mine had it when I purchased it, but later found out the larger knob was a manual gate model. After I got mine and seen how easy the gate was to raise/lower, I didn't mind it and was glad that at least the window was power operated. I just wish I could get my window repaired... it will open, but not close. I had to close it manually with a drill on the end of the cable. I have been trying to find a switch, but no luck. I kinda like the fact that the gate isn't power, that is one less thing to break. lol.

I want a '73 the more I see one. If I ever get my '72 Caprice wagon roadworthy, after awhile for driving it and a little restoration, I MAY, just MAY sell it and buy, or try to trade it for a '73 Caprice wagon.

My '74 Caprice convertible had lots of stone chips in the lower fenders just behind the front tires. The way the lower fender cuts in, if you ever drove on gravel roads, you'd get lots of chips.

So it wouldn't be surprising if this one had or needs some touch-up work in that area. It was a design that really should have come with mud flaps from the factory.

Yeah, my '72 Caprice wagon had these, but only nubs of them remained when I got the car (they were plastic). My '73 Grand Ville has factory mud flaps that are still very nice (chrome).

 

Has now bid to $4060 with exactly three days to go.

This is priced somewhere exactly were it should be imho, but with a day and a half to go, anything can still happen. I am tipping another grand or so. I am still torn but this is a beautiful wagon. Will have to wait and see if the heart rules the head on this one!

Way better than that dark brown one in another post! A friend had one this color. Looks like a back-back seat could be put in there, if you wanted that.

 

This car will bring around $6,000. It is a twin to my 73, but a little nicer. And I wouldn't sell mine for no less than $5,500.
