That's a good way to look at, WB4! My wagon does seem happier with Jake and Elwood in the back:yup:

I know and I agree!!! She kept saying here are some "boats" for the demo guys... don't she know someone may want to restore those? I bet some of those big cars will go for about nothing. Hopefully some of them can be saved. I see a lot of early 70s Chevys... I wonder if any clamshell wagons in there? :)

There was also an old Ford wagon in there... probably a trade-in.

She's from Minnesota. Derbies are big in the Rust Belt. These are seen as derby fodder, and little else.

That is what I was thinking. Sounds like sadly many of these will see their fate in a derby... unless they are too rusty for that.

Ok - I get that up to a point. Surely, being a car dealer, the Lambrechts saw that these old vehicles were going up in value - like 20 years ago? Did he refuse to sell them? Didn't anyone ever drive by or come in as a customer and ask if all those old vehicles were for sale? I would have if I had ever driven by and I don't think I'm the only one. He could have built cheap pole barns and stuffed them all inside and watch his investment grow in value. Yes, it's his stuff and the owner can do whatever they want, but why just let them rot away?

Plus, if you watch the first video, there is a early 90s Lumina and a 74? Monte Carlo in the dealership building. You would think they would have taken those out and put 2 of the "brand new" ones inside.

It's interesting how much buzz the first video and pics produced and how it lit up the Internet for a few weeks. Supposedly hotels were booked out to 50+ miles. I wonder how many folks will change their minds about going now that they see the majority of the collection is rusted out hulks....

It sure is a shame, I can tell you that. It is cool to see such low miles on them, but in return, so sad to see the ones that are ruined. :(

lol the ones she was looking at when she said derby in the one video were not any good if they were brand new and cherry. the bumpers and such is about all that would be usable for even that on the ones that ARE good derby cars. I did see 1 clam I believe the list I had seen there were 3-4 listed.

Guys, it's not like these were out on highways with road salt and all that, so the bodies are more than likely in pretty good condition.

I'll agree about the bodies, but it could be real iffy, the condition of the frames and floors having sat on and in dirt for all those years. There still is a handful I'd love to have though......

That wagon above also has a bug deflector witch in itself is a rare piece if you were searching for one.
