You are rite, but it does mention rust....that's what you need pics of. I know it is what it is, rare and needing full resto but isn't this price just a bit too way out there for what the car appears to be?
with all the work that's ahead in this one's future, yes. Even without a "frame off resto" , just a general redo and replacement of all that seems to be missing, this would definitely qualify as a car you restore for the love of the car,,, and, NOT, to make money off it. Too much is wrong. I'm not even sure correct replacement tail lights are findable. I get the feeling, this may have been somebody's parts car, and now they want to make bank with the left overs.
My Dad's was exactly the same colors and option wise, but a '59! Too much money for the work required - might be realistic for $4500!
One great thing about asking too much is you can take less and everyone is happy. If you ask exactly what you want then people get upset because you won't work a deal. Many sellers don't really know what their vehicle is worth. If they set a price and every offer is less the will quickly come to the realization (hopefully) of what it is really likely to sell for. I just read a Hemming's this morning, a few months old, where the writer noted that he had no problems offering half or less for a vehicle, basing his offer on what he was willing to pay for the car. He noted that he was often successful and the times when he wasn't he was okay with that, he offered a fair price in his view and if he didn't get the car then so be it. If you are serious, offer less. Less than you will ultimately pay so you too can work your way up as the seller works their way down. That is the game in the old car world folks. Learn to play it well and you will be a happy car owner. IMHO at least.
These are rare enough that when Collectable Automobile did an article about the Country Squires they could not find any pictures of a good one for the article! It looks to be fairly solid, and mostly there. The good thing is that all the models used the same tail lamps on these so the sedan and coupe lights will work, assuming there are no new ones available. Personally, I would love this one, as the 58 is my favorite year of Ford.
