Does anyone know how many years this Monaco has been for sale? The price never drops either. http://losangeles.craigslist.org/sfv/cto/3690231662.html
Four years for SURE. Started out around 4K and started going up as I was trying to talk to the owner. When it was all said and done I had strong suspicions that the guy didn't even own the car. It couldn't be moved for unknown reasons, etc. He keeps advertising it with tickler pix now and then.
The price went up?! That's just crazy! The pics never change, so he may not even have the car, as you said.
He does have partial pix of selective sections of the inside that make it look good. From what I saw 4 years ago I liked this car a lot. No way could I communicate with the so called owner. Always had the feeling he was toying with me. Maybe seeing how much he could get. The clincher was he wanted money up front....I'm thinking the guy may very well be a scammer. Don't know that....just have a feeling.
In the pictures, the car looks pretty good, but that wood grain is deteriorating slowly. Too bad, too, because this is likely my favorite of all the Fuselage Mopars. Love the hide away headlamps, too. Looks really great, but not $8,500 great.
$3,000 tops, in my book, for what it is, condition, and the overall "hinky-ness" of the alleged "owner" of the car.
The wood grain would be tricky to duplicate, since it has a built-in "stripe" of a lighter-colored wood grain, plus the script also done in the lighter woodgrain. Maybe a talented Photoshop artist who works for a vinyl-wrap company could do it.
I seem to remember these wagons having very high failure rates on the appearance of their Di-Noc. Of course, I was in Southern California where the sun was an enemy. Also a factor I believe, was the absence of surround moldings.
