Someone got under the car with a can of black and a can of silver spray paint. I've been under enough K-cars to know that is not original at all. They should have just left it alone.

That said, it IS about the prettiest K-wagon I've seen in years.

Yup....I think there are areas of rust they painted over. I hate it when they doctor the underside of a car. Makes one suspicious right away. Could be super clean under there but how can a guy tell???

That sticker price of almost 17K is a lot of money for a car in 1987.
If I had that much cash for a car back then I would of bought the last year Buick Grand National.:)

Too bad they ruined the originality of the car by painting the underbody like that, could have been a real survivor.
Weird looking at the hump in the floor where the driveshaft should be and there's an exhaust system there?:)
The cars still looks like the pedal car version of a real full sized woody wagon to me.:rofl2:

Reference my post on the first page of this thread. That's what this guy does. He does seem to be pretty good at touching up cars and making them look sano in ebay ads.

So, I was thinking about looking into some kind of undercoating for my 94 roadmaster, but after reading some of the comments above, I'm not sure it's a good idea. The car is super clean (Texas 16.5 years, North Carolina 2 years and Florida 7 months). I suspect it was garaged the majority of the time, but there is at least superficial rust on parts of the frame you can see without crawling under the vehicle. I'm sure it's only surface, but IMHO, it doesn't look good.

I think the exhaust system is stainless, so that's not an issue, it's just the surface rust on the frame. Would it actually be best to leave as is, or should I do something at least with the frame?

I don't want to give the appearance of covering something up. However, this has become my daily driver, and the rainy season will be here before long, which means going through a lot of puddles. I'd like to keep it as nice as I can. This is my first wagon since the seventies, and I am loving every minute of it. I'd have a hard time going back to the Honda or another pickup.

    Thanks in advance.

It's your car...do what ever you want to it. Just don't paint the underside right before you try to sell it. By the time you may want to sell it the underside will likely look stock again after wear.

Re-listed again! This is the 3rd time that I know about. "ol Lash is having a hard time getting rid of this one. Deadbeats? People walking away because it's not as advertised? Pulling the ad before the 2 day limit? Whatever....it's back!:biglaugh:
