390 V8 and loaded. Shame it has been left out sinking into the weeds. The floors are probably shot. http://detroit.craiglist.org/okl/cto/3621242913.html
Am I crazy or is that junk yard dash without a single crack?? This seems to be one junk yard dog worth saving.
Depending on the condition of the underside, this one could be well worth saving. The body is faded, but looks to be fairly rust free. All in all, it looks like a great project.
Still, A nice Colony Park to save, I like the colors, Wish I was closer. Check out those crazy fender mount turnsignal indicators. Mopar? It may be more solid than I originally thought given its location and sitting in a field for a while. A super looking Merc with great colors.. and needs more relevent pic's to sell.
I love that "rolling brick" look, even on the early 80's Chevy pickups, the square look just looked cool...especially lowered. (of course )
Those turn signal repeater are different from the Mopar ones. They are, I believe, a quite rare factory option from the mid-60s on the FoMoCo products. You didn't seem them very often then, and much less often now.
Interesting, I had never seen them before. If there was a better pic of them I should be able to tell the style of them. Nice car, hope someone grabs it. I wish there were better pic's of it though.
He posted a link with 22 photos. http://picasaweb.google.com/1090477...=directlink&gsessionid=IJmjWc6IK3bkFNq0w8Nx3g#
Well...looks like I was wrong about the dash; it has a crack after all. This guy seems to be honestly showing everything, even all the bad spots. Except the underside which, I'm afraid, being a Michigan car, will be nothing but rust. BUT...I could be wrong. In looking at this once beautiful car, I could shoot the guy that parked it there in the long grass and walked away allowing it to deteriorate. Still, IF the frame is all there this car COULD be brought back. A lot of elbow grease and money involved though. And that's only if the underside isn't rusted away. Don't know if any seats are still there except for the front one either. Or, if they are, we don't know the condition they are in. With all that said....if I had more time left and the underside was still good, I would buy this car. I hope someone does buy it that loves it like I do and has the patience, money and ability to bring it back to its original beauty. Thanks for that link, prof.
Thanks professor, Better pic's there. It is sad it was sitting where it was for so long. There is definately underside rust issues. The heavily oxidized door data plate was my first indication. Haven't seen one that bad, at least out here. Tailgate lower skin, lower body areas, lower front bumper peeling from resting on ground since? Assorted hard to get wagon chrome potmetal pieces pitting on outside body and inside dash bezel. I would imagine the frame has issues, and could possibly need another. Even western frames of these years had rust problems. Indicators still look to be 67 Chrysler 300, or Newport though, same identical shape. Never offered for Merc or Ford in 65, even dealer. Have been around many of these over the years and owned some loaded Colonys, Parklanes and converts, even four speed cars and never seen them. Hopefully someone will prove me wrong. This must have been a beauty when new. It could still be nice but there is definately underside rust issues that will need attention. It is also definately a Mich. native. and apparently been there since new. Built in Wayne MI. 5/64, shipped to Detroit DSO, was 390-2V new. Merc Multidrive 3 spd auto, (Fords Cruise-o-matic) (4) non (equaloc) 3:00:1 axle. (1) 9 passenger. (71-E) Red exterior acrylic. (J) Red vinyl int. (65) It does have a good many options that can be seen in the additional pic's though. 6 way P/S. Power windows. Am-Fm radio with rear speaker. Reminants of old Mercury floormat section on trans hump. A/C. Visibility Group. Daynite rear view mirror, remote door mirror, Washers for wiper. Yes still optional in 65 as with seat belts and reverse lights. Luggage roof rack. probably other items I missed. Still could be a showy Merc. Hopefully someone will give this neat wagon the attention it needs.
This is one very sweet wagon! I hope someone can save her. If not, I hope someone saves all the special pieces off the old girl. There are a LOT of great, hard to find parts there, for sure.
