Really nice car! Again, priced according to condition, which is nice. Looks solid, and only that one piece of trim missing off the left quarter. The body damage there looks pretty easy to repair, too.

Left quarter has a bit of a dent in it - a least it won't be rusty. I like the front end on these Buicks - the individual headlamp buckets, and the way the grill area wraps down under the headlamps.....

I definitely like this one although I'm curious what engine it does actually have, 307 Olds, 305 Chevy, 350 Chevy or Olds or Buick or what. What would a GM dealer have installed in place of a diesel for a 1981 LeSabre Estate? Probably the Olds 307.

I'm getting more used to the 307 in the Safari now, seems to have 'adequate' power for driving around, although I certainly wouldn't tow anything bigger than a utility trailer with it. (Don't have a hitch receiver, anyway...)

I figured you would. You'll never lite up the tires but it's got more than enouph power to zoom around in, how ever if a pricy engine repair came along a 350 would be the swap.. The way I see our parts of the world, very similar highways, hills, hills, and more hills. I've never had a power problem on highway hill. I can't coment of gas millage though, I'm on propane and although in todays world it would not be cost efective to convert (was done by previous owner) it's pritty cheap in general to drive, a tank.....have no idea about gasoline costs with the 307, You KK would be able to give that.

I'm afraid to figure it. I don't think it's gonna be too good......

Hmmmm?? I've never bothered to figure out millage, but just on how much $ it costs per week, the big ol Buick on propane is a few bucks cheaper to drive than my mid size 83 witch has the 305 on gas..... the most expesive gas pig we have is Deb's V6 99 GMC Saffari van, that thing is thirsty, allways has been just like a 2000 Chev Astro cargo van I used to have (Work's van)

Everything working right, the 307 should give about 28 miles to the Imperial gallon, or about 22 to the U.S gallon, on the highway. We won't talk about city. The 307 is slightly better on the highway than the 305 Chev engine by the way. The funny thing is, the Buick big block 350 hooked up to a Turbo 400 3-speed got the same gas mileage as my 84 with the 307 and 200R4 4-speed overdrive. Go figure.
