Wow! Perfect color combination of black paint with woodgrain over red interior. It looks better than new and is priced accordingly. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1-CO...3103951?pt=US_Cars_Trucks&hash=item337f8a53cf
Interesting wagon. The '500 XL' buckets and console are not 'vehicle correct', since the XL didn't come out until the '62 model year, but I suppose it's an acceptable modification. The wire wheels would be the same ones that you would put on a '61 Thunderbird, so those are OK as well. I don't personally like 'wide whites', but on this wagon they do not look out of place. ('61 is about the last year when you would find them on a new vehicle). And that's lotsa money right there. I think I'd still rather have a Caballero - even if it might not be in quite as nice condition (for the same money).
Sure does look nice. I wonder what it was like before they started the restoration. Cause I sure know how much went into mine....
It's a beauty. Not much question about that. By the way....it's not the only beauty sitting in that garage! The only complaint I have on this gorgeous Ford is the orange peel on the dash....bothers me. But I could live with it.
Beautiful! Like seeing the detail of the AC unit and the "390" badgeing on the fenders. Are those factory correct?
Nice car! As high optioned as the car is, I am surprised that it does not have the padded dash option.
It's funny that this car is being sold "as is - no warranty". You'd think that for $73,900 that they'd give you some sort of warranty? Even Honest Ed at the corner used car lot does better than that!
I'm wondering how they can possibly claim 'concourse restoration' when they note the deviations from original! Mind you, I like what they did change. The buckets and console are a great upgrade, and the front disc brakes only make sense. Trouble is this car is TOO perfect. I would not want to drive it very much looking this great, but what else is it for? Mind you, I would not say no to finding one of these in my driveway. This one, because of the pictures, also answered a big question for me. Because of where Ford put the gas tank, when the time comes to look for an old wagon, this is the generation I'll be hunting up. I hate the thought of a gas tank on the outside of the frame rails.
