1973 Chevrolet Caprice Estate (blue on blue!)

Here is another one! Rare color! I have not seen a blue one in a very long time, especially a blue '73. I have not seen a blue interior on one of these in an extremely long time either! It looks like a very solid and rust free California car though. Also other than the carpet looking like it has been replaced, the rest of the interior looks original and nice. I bet this car had been stored inside a lot as well.

Looks like a high optioned car with power seat, power windows, power locks, but it does not have the tilt wheel option, nor the 3rd seat. It also looks like some has added retractable seat belts. I don't think that came along until 1974 on these cars and even then they were not set up like this.

Buy it now - $20K. Wow. If it were mine, the side pipes and wheels would have to go.

$3000 opening bid is probably what he has in it. Those tires are WAY too small and those bullitt wheels are for Mustangs, don't belong on this wagon. The carpet is nice and new, but that detracts from the value in my opinion. The seats have been redone, and they're nice and the interior plastics are nice, but what's up with the scrapes on the inside of the tailgate? I would have at least touched that up. The paint is dull and worn out, the woodgrain is OK, but this is a $6000 wagon at best even with the 454 in it. Which has non-original valve covers, air cleaner, and some all aluminum radiator. The side pipes are just a joke.

Funny how these mods on a Chevy wagon seems to increase the value in a sellers mind but the same bits on a Gran Torino I saw on CL in Indianapolis recently ahd it down to $800.

This one is a mix of good and bad. The headers are nice, in that they help give some gas mileage as well as performance. The Edelbrock intake and carb is nice too. The interior looks good but those speaker boxes have GOT to go. They eat cargo room. I like what he did with the seatbelts. That is a good safety upgrade for a car you are using to transport the family. The side pipes would have to go, and same with the wheels and tires. They just look silly to me. The colour is beautiful, but it does need some help. The wood grain, though, looks wrong to me. For one thing, the original was a semi-translucent Dy-Noc that allowed the paint colour to bleed through slightly, and this doesn't seem to do that. Also, at least the driver's front fender has had the wood grain replaced, as it doesn't quite match. They do not show a good picture of the passenger side, especially the front fender. I have a funny feeling that there my have been front end accident damage repaired at some point. Nice looking over all but I would want to go over it carefully, and even then, I think the price is between 2 and 3 times what the car is worth, in my opinion.

The wheels are American Torq-Thrust, and not Bullitt wheels. If I hang on to the Mercury wagon, I have a similar thought in mind for it, regarding the wheels. My car is a very close blue.

I like the wheels and pipes, but with these wheels, the car needs to be lowered two to three inches all around for the right stance and appearance. With the stock ride height, it looks wrong.

$20K??? Too much. I'd go six.

Not a $20K car, not even a $10K IMO and I said it once already, for me the sidepipes would have to be the first to go and the wheels would have to go... I would put the factory hubcaps back on there.

This would have to be a factory original 100% MINT car to fetch $20K IMO.

There was a MINT '72 Buick Estate Wagon with something like 200 actual miles floating on Hemmings a few years ago that was priced somewhere around that. I think it was like $32K originally, then it came down into the $20s range. Does anyone remember that car?

Those are Vision "Legend" wheels if you want the same kind.

Here are the same wheels on my 74 Caprice. I have a different offset than the ones on the wagon though.

The only thing I dislike about these wheels is the lugnuts are set way inside the wheel. If you look at the second picture it appears the car has no lugnuts on the rear wheel since they are so far in. I wish someone made a 3 inch long acorn 1/2 lugnut. That would put it to the outside edge of the hole and look much nicer
