My heart sank when I first read this local one (about 20 miles from me), as I love the 70s Squires with woodgrain.

Listed as a '71 Country Squire... but its actually a 71 Country Sedan (Galaxie) wagon... it was a let down. lol.

Nice looking wagon over all. Too bad about the colour, though. It was originally that deep, mossy green metallic that looks great with the lines of these wagons. Take the 351W and AOD out of an old police cruiser, slap it in, and you have a real winner in this one. That interior even looks to be in decent shape.

Sounds like he really cares for this wagon. I bet he is sad to see it go. This would be great for a Forum member to get. I would love to see it restored and loved.

I really like this one. I actually prefer the Country Sedan to the Squire.

Yeah, the car appears to have been painted that terrible color it is now and used to be that nice green color that came on these cars... that mossy green like Mike stated. The interior is indeed pretty nice as well. Those door panels are very interesting. I dont think I have ever paid any attention to the door panels in a Country Sedan wagon of this era... they look pretty upscale with all of the wood accented trim considering this is not even the LTD wagon.

I am surprised that I have not seen this car at any of the local cruises. Hopefully it will find a good home.

I don't even mind the color if the paint is in decent shape and fairly rust free but I don't need a project, I need a driver. Hope it doesn't end up in a scrap yard.

mashaffer: The voltage regulator is about $12.00, available at any parts store, normally in stock, and takes about 2 minutes to install. The carb is not a big deal, either. They can be rebuilt for about $130, or you can do it yourself for about $40. Swapping the carb is about 20 minutes of work, and then setting it up takes another 15 or so. If that is all this car needs, you are looking at under an hour of work, and less then $150 to make it run nicely. If your are interested, give it a look. The carb is not an unusual problem at this age. It is normally the gasket at the top of the bowl.

I agree... don't look like it would take much. I hope this car gets saved. I live in the area and around here, I could see some redneck buying it just for an engine to put in an old ratty Ford truck and sending the car to the scrap yard to get $100 out of it.

I would LOVE to have it, but I have no where to put it and I am broke. :(

If it were a Country Squire, I would sell whatever I could to get $800 to buy it though. lol.

I had found this one a couple of months ago, when I was wagon shopping. I had even been in contact with a friend who transports cars. But, found my 77 LTD II locally, so didn't pursue this one further. If I had the space.....

Man for $800 I'm tempted to go rescue that.
