Funny....I was going to post this car this morning and didn't for some reason. I think I didn't because of the cost. I love it! And Pat's right that these little guy's bring the bucks. But, way too much for me. It will be interesting to watch.
There was a small car dealership back in Orange, CA - and I do mean small. Whole place was maybe 15' wide, and yes, he did sell small cars. Old Minis, Those Japanese micro vans and pickups, plus restored Honda 600's - anything decent he could find. Seemed to do real well, and I know his prices wern't cheap.....
I just realized that I can't watch to see what this car sells for because of the way the auction is set up. BUT....I have to say, as nice as this car is....I think the seller will be very lucky to get half of what he is asking.
How do these work, where there is only a 'Buy it Now' listed? Are there bids behind the scenes, sort of an 'invisible' auction, with the seller free to accept or reject any bid?
They take blind bids....suppose you bid $1000 and then I bid $950....your bid would stick and mine would be rejected and I would be able to bid again. BUT....as you say....essentially, the reserve is also blind so the seller can reject all bids at the end if he doesn't get what he wants. I think this type of auction sucks and I have wanted cars that appeared in this type of auction but I refused to participate and will always refuse.
This car has been relisted as a 5 day auction with NO RESERVE!! It is now still at $4050 with 3 days left. I love this little car. 2 days left....$4900. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/?cmd=ViewItem&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649&item=271002079643&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWAX%3AIT
