Nice looking car. I didnt know the impala wagon had the double tail lights. My 61 impala has the triple lights - separate reverse light - mine is a sedan, though. Excellent interior, too.
Loose the wheels for something with less DONKameter to them like 16 or 17" and it would be a damn nice lookin car.
That's the difference in the lights, Saarno. Triple tail lights for the '61 Impalas - except for the wagons. Seems Chevy didn't want to stamp a whole different tailgate skin just for the Impala. (Actually, the names for the '61 wagons are different from their corresponding sedans / hardtops, etc.... Series:..............................Wagon version called: Biscayne............................Brookwood Bel Air...............................Parkwood Impala..............................Nomad Now, if you wanted your triple tail lights on a '61 wagon, a good bodyman should be able t take care of that pretty easily. Just need a spare old tail gate to cut out one left and one right tail lamp area.
61 impala Krash, I saw a guy do that with a 61 Corvair station Wagon. They only came factory with 2 lights in back as well. A regular light and back-up as well. The guy added a regular light on each side of the back-up lights and it looked factory.
Thought I'd ad anotherbit of information..... The '62 big Chevy wagons were the same way with the tail lights (only 2 per side on the 'Impalas'), but for '63, they decided to go the extra mile and make a true '3-light' Impala tailgate...... The 64's cheaped out and the wagons didn't use the round lights like the sedans at all - they used a single small rectangular light for each side - for all trim levels. New body style in '65 got the 3 lights for the Impalas again....
