Holy Crapp Holy Crapp fat man, I better take better care of my Handyman wagon! By the way 1tireman, those were the type mirrors I had on my handyman when I repainted and sold the thing. The next temporary owner put on the chrome mirrors which look more period. However I'm not into any period. I was building it as my mini-van toy. With my carburated 305 and Bel Aire type chrome I like mine better. 20,000 and needs finished sounds high! And I already have one too many yeller cars.
Your not getting any deal on this one, the body alone is maybe worth $7500, the blower motor might be worth another $7500, more if built by someone famous. Does the car have an interior, a working heater/defroster, in other words what has been stripped out to lighten the load for better ET's. I worked in Tech at a drag strip and saw a lot of tired ole race cars that to be competitive would take a ton of money to get it there and to restore it to them for street that same ton of money. If I were going to buy the car, I'd want to buy it as a roller for a lot less money than he's asking.....other wise I'd pass on the car, it's not worth $20K....maybe not $15K. David
I notice it's us handy guys commenting on this. I agree, most cars raced are also stripped bare. Costs a fortune to get it even close to original, or at least a comfortable driver. We just changed ours to Vintage AC/heat , digital dash, updated wipers, and other stuff. All that could be done to a race car to make it street comfortable. But after spending $20,000 to start with, you'd have a bundle in it. And real wagon owners aren't gonna give you near what you'd have in it.
How about the 'old race car' with only 80 miles on it, 1/4 mile at a time!! Was the last LS6 Corvette built, with all the paperwork!! Only pulled $750,000 at B-J a few years ago!!
A Blower Motor in a "Back in the Day" Race Car The old drag cars that have brought big money on BJ had a history, the were raced by some one of note, and/or were factory cars. This car has no history noted in the discription, most likely it was a Junior Stocker, Stocker or a Bracket car that was raced every week end for years....they have been rode hard and put away wet. "Back in the Day" race cars/gasser are popular builds right now and this guy is trying to cash in this trend/fad.... David
