Is that a Thunderbird wheel cover in the front? I saw a listing recently for a "one of a kind" '65 Galaxie 500XL Thunderbird Edition that was allegedly special-ordered from the factory with Thunderbird emblems. Hmm...
What I think throws people off is the small Thunderbird V8 badges usually on these cars up through '65. They think it was a special model. David
Found it. This listing doesn't have the "special ordered from the factory" narrative, though. It definitely has more than just the V8 emblems.
I seem to recall back then that some cars came through with the T-Bird engine and it was badged with a T-Bird emblem on the fender side. The engine does not make it a T-Bird but the badges tell you it has a T-Bird engine. I remember those badged cars.
I just got my 56 Parklane delivered yesterday. Barn find in California, and my first wagon restoration. Really rough shape but my interest is simply because I love the look and don't see them around much, and a one year only really unique model although they did build 15,000 of them. The T-Bird badges on the front fender are a talking point. Already yesterday, a neighbor called it a T-Bird wagon? Then the follow up...I thought Parklane was a Mercury? Sheesh... it's gonna be fun!
