I think its just as foolish doing it to a 49-50 Mercury.

I think a convertible wagon is a cool idea, as long as it is a latch-on hard shell top, kind of like how the old Blazers and Broncos had.

Yeah....I could see one like the big luxury cars of the 30's & 40's with a double wind screen and separate compartment for the passengers. It would probably be a big seller to those rich enough to have a chauffer.:D

    Take a regular 4-door wagon.
    Install T-Tops over each door.
(Doors would have to be modified of course...)

yup...the Phaetons were super cool. The one shown by Norm is gorgeous. The one's I was thinking of had considerably more room in the back for passengers, pull down trays, bar, etc. The GM 90's wagons would lend themselves nicely for this kind of luxury design.

Agreed. Especially in Seattle. I live near here and we saw this in my quest for a new wagon. Then we thought, "Hmmm.... NO roof, and it rains 9 months out of the year in Washington..."

I kinda like it. It'd be great for parades. Guess you'd have to hand wash it all the time as with no roof, a car wash certainly wouldn't work.
