Car in Colorado. Auction's almost done, folks.

Seller assumes all responsibility for this listing.

"1973 Chevelle SS Wagon. Pardon the dust. Car has been sitting in the barn. Car is a numbers matching 95% original 454, 400 auto. Only things not original to the car are the wheels and air cleaner. Car has not been mollested. This is 1 of approx. less than 1000 made. 6 passenger not 9. Car will run and drive but will overheat with time. I think it has a leaking head gasket. Car has very little rust ( nothing through car ) that I have seen. Car does need restored but can be driven as is with engine fixed. I drove it home 6 years ago from Washington and it pretty much has sat since then. Never found the time or money to make it right. Car is in CO, don't know why ebay says NM.
Uploaded additional pictures as requested. I have a replacement hatch, that was from a trailer tongue before I got the car. If there are specific pics you want reply with your email. Any further questions - 720-215-2060"

    (Other pics in listing...)

    I don't know:huh:, so....Was there a 73 Malibu SS wagon built?

It's a nice looking wagon, I like the blue on blue (Sorry Fox :D), I'm asking because I've never heard of one. Seller also make no mention other than in (both) title description.

Yes....for automotive trivia fanatics, 1973 was the ONLY year that there was a Malibu SS wagon offered from the factory. There were a few built, but not many. They came standard with a 2-barrel 350, but you could get a 454 if you wanted. I believe you could even order a 4-speed manual (not positive on this one).

The way this wagon is shown, with the lower silver accent color, is how the 'SS' was distinguished from the regular Malibu's.

In my opinion, in a few years, these are going to be extremely valueable.

I never knew, I would have though it as a "one of, owner off" wagon because of no mention about a "SS Option" in the sellers description.. It is sharp!

I didn't know they made one either, Fat. I trust KK,s knowledge but I have to say that the SS emblems on the fenders and rear gate don't look like they belong there. Maybe they do but they don't look right to me. Could be that the owner just wanted to be sure everyone knew it is an SS and put them on there. Or....they could belong there I suppose.
    EDIT:
Looks like I was wrong....I looked up some pix and the emblem is on that fenderside. Albeit, in a slightly different location. Very slight. Couldn't find a pic of the rear gate of the SS.

This is a true SS wagon. It's my car. Still for sale also. The emblems are correct (Z15 code). You could order this car in a 4 speed. This wagon has very little cancer and has never been apart.

PS. I never mentioned the Z15 code in the ad because you would have to have the build sheet to validate this. The code is never listed on any of the data plates. As I mentioned, the car has never been apart so the build sheets are probably there but not going to take car apart to look. I can say that having owned 73 SS's for 20 years or better that it is a true car. Take care all

A fellow who worked with us bought an SS wagon in '73. Gorgeous car. We had our first 70 SS 454 car yet and he was impressed after a late night toot down the highway and next thing we know he shows up with a brand new wagon. I was surprised at how well it went - tons of torque. I do not know what happened to the car as he and his wife split up and the car went with her and the kids. I did not realize how rare they are, nor did I remember how much I like them, until seeing the pics today.

I agree with KK about these cars having longer term prospects for growth in value. Rare, good looking, practical all in one package.

    Wish I was rich:banghead3:

Thanks for all the compliments. Just for trivia sake - The only thing the SS option gave was a stripe and badge package. The 454 was a seperate option but not required with the SS package. In my opinion that is the good part. In 73 numbers were not kept like pre 72 cars, after all these were not and still not considered "muscle cars". The motor was only rated at 245 HP. That is the reason I say it is 1 of less than aprox. 1000 made. Best guess with the information out there and thats what most web sites say. It is a cool car though and hey - the clock still works. :thumbs2:

I highly doubt it, but you can call the phone # in the ad. See the original post. This thread was started almost 11 months ago.....
