If I only lived closer, she would make a fine addition to my Ford family in the garage.

I'm curious as to why you're giving up the '71 for the '63, which looks like it needs far more work.....?

The 1971 is a better car in several ways, but I have always wanted something older and I really like the styling of the 1963 Fords. I was looking for a GM product wagon from the mid to late 60's but everything I found was way more money than I can currently afford. I just hope the next owner of the 71 will treat it the way a classic station wagon deserves to be treated. These are getting harder and harder to find with the scrap metal prices so high around here. I have seen several decent wagons get crushed without even a chance of a collector looking at it or at least getting some parts.

Nice find - was it advertised? Was this the original owner?
If you are going to put your efforts in to restoring a car you might as well do the one you like even if it means more work. Are you going to restore it, hot rod it, or ? You realize that whatever you do, pictures are expected

Yeah, Bill....this crushing of wagons (or any good old car) is driving me NUTS! People are so damn lazy that they don't even advertise their old car so someone that appreciates can get a shot at it. They just call the junk man, collect there few hundred bucks and the car disappears. Off the face of the earth. I'm telling you...old gems are taking a slow boat to China in huge numbers. And Detroit isn't about to replace them! The government wants them off the road. I want them ON the road. Forever! This is one of the things that upsets me most! These beatiful, well built machines are disappearing at alarming rates. And the government is loving it. I HATE politicians!

I could not have stated it better myself SF. It's disgusting how quickly true automobiles are being whipped off the road only coming back as a cheep pile of garbage from China.

Right, wagnut! There is a clear conspiracy that started with the cash for clunker program and has quietly surged to get all the old cars off the road. Even the junk yards are guilty of taking the money and running with it. The G doesn't even want parts to be available. People just don't seem to understand that if this keeps up our cars will be gone much sooner than we could possibly imagine. Who do these asses in Washington think they are to wipe out a significant part of our American history?? They want to pay off the big money guys with their companies pushing for alternative energy. And I will tell you....battery operated cars are NOT the answer! And, even if they were....the old iron still deserves its place in history and on the road. We need to stop this government arm that is sweeping a beautiful part of history off the roads.

I was never really a "political guy" until that dumb "Cash For Clunkers" bill was pushed. You are correct, it is a push by our government for "green cars". It's going the WRONG way, electric cars are just displacing the pollution somewhere else and limiting the freedom of the driver (what would a Montana rancher do when his electric truck runs out of juice and there are no plugs?) I cringe when I hear some dope go nuts over a Nissan Leaf or the Volt.........some people never will get the big picture.
