If I didn't already have one, I might be seriously looking at this one on e-bay. Nine days to go and currently already at $1725.00,and the car is not currently running. Sounds like the seller thinks he'll be getting about $8500.00 for it. That would be high for one that needs work, but the body looks very straight and solid and looks to be original paint. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=200566985773&viewitem=
It's up to $5,400 now which surprises me. He doesn't say what engine is in there besides "V-8". I'm not familiar enough with what engines were available in '67. I'm pretty sure 318 was available and mine is a 383. One factor helping the price is this is on the East Coast where old cars suffered the winters over the years so there are not as many available. If this person had really been offered $8,500 by a legitimate buyer with cash in hand, he should've taken the money and ran.
Well, cuda knows his cars so this one must be rare if he thinks one of them is worth that money if running. I think it's high but don't know Mopars. This could be a rare car for all I know.
It looks like a 318 to me, though it could be a 273. A nice 383 in similar condition (but running) was for sale a while back for $10,000. Theres a 383 survivor 67 Coronet 440 wagon for sale in MA for $16,000 (which seems way high to me). Big blocks are rare in B-body wagons of this vintage. This wagon is a small block. If it was running as good as it looks, I would expect it to bring maybe as much as $7000. But this one isn't running, so I am surprized the bidding is going as well as it is. On the west coast it would likely go for $3500 as it sits, but here on the east coast, any solid original body will command a premium price. I suspect that most of the bidders wouldn't plan on keeping the 318 under the hood anyway, which would explain why the mechanical condition doesn't seem to be hampering the bidding. I expect that the next owner will transplant in a 360, 440, 426 Hemi, 5.7 Hemi or a 6.2 Hemi.
It'll bring running car money or damn close. The engine is really about the easiest and cheapest part to fix, all the parts are there. What's the worst case scenario? It reminds me of the one my friend's family had.
Yo Guyz. I'm not the Mopar expert but I think '67 was the last year for the 273, and the distributer for the 383 iz in the front like the 440. That pretty much 0'z in on ah 318. If it waz mine I'd stuff ah LEANIN' TOWER OF POWER IN IT. And either hang 3 side draft weberz on it or FI Turbo it. Anybody can do ah Hemi, All it takez deep pocketz:banana:Nice B-Body tho'
