This is the car that got me all fired up to sell my Grand Marquis and get another wagon.

The Mrs. and I took a drive to Lucan (via Shakespeare, hitting every yarn/knitting store on the way...ya gotta compromise somehow) to have a look at this one as the ad makes it look pretty sweet.

The owner had plans to keep the car indefinitely and spent a fair amount of work on keeping her. He showed me receipts for almost $10,000 worth of work that he'd had done. The 305ci was totally rebuilt at a local speed shop and bored 40 over. He had the car repainted in PT Cruiser blue and replaced the carpeting. He added manual airbags in the rear for hauling and the A/C had been removed to make way for a transmission cooler if I recall correctly (by the previous owner). There were other repairs but they don't seem to have stuck in the ol' noggin. I took it out for a spin and it handled well, with no extraneous noises or apparent issues. It needed a new Y-Pipe as the exhaust was a little throaty, he just never bothered to do it. He's been trying to sell it for some time without any luck. As the ad says, he inherited a pickup truck when a family member passed away and didn't see the need to keep the wagon anymore. You can see the pickup in the background. Between he and his wife they have 4 other cars now and just need to get rid of this 5th to make the driveway easier to get around in. The car has been garaged the entire time that he's owned it. The undercarriage was almost completely rust-free.

I chatted with him for a fair while about my '81 Parisienne and his '79 Parisienne sleeper in the garage that he takes to the track. He was a real straight shooter.

My only concerns were that the 3 year old paint job was covering up a good sized dent in the drivers door. It looked to me like the dent was there before the paint job. There were some finish issues around the doors that looked like they might cause a problem and could have been addressed before the paint job. Overall, it's a nice car, it just needs a small amount of TLC. Once I started looking at some Roadmasters, I decided that I would prefer an LT1 to that bored-over 305.
