"1972 Ford Torino Wagon with 460 for sale. It is in decent shape but needs work like all old cars need. NADA says it is worth about 3200 but I need to sell due to money issues so I will take best offer. Would like to sell fast. It is a car with a lot of potential."

A 460? Yikes!! I doubt Ford offered that in a Torino wagon back then. Must be a retrofit, no?

They just stopped building the Torino after model year 1976, so that's the main reason why you couldn't get a 460 in it anymore.....[IMG]

For model year 1973 the 460 engine was an US$ 222.00 option for the Torino wagon and the Gran Torino wagon [IMG]

they stop installing 460 in all cars in 76 because of emission issue ! not because of model line up.
they drop the Torino name with the redesign of the car in 1977 and change the name LDT II. think it would sell better. like they have done in the past so many times.

You could still order a car like a model year 1977 and 1978 Ford LTD (not LTD-II) with the 460 CI mill (y)

    Option prices:

    1977 LTD = US$ 297.00
    1977 LTD wagon = US$ 189.00

    1978 LTD = US$ 428.00
    1978 LTD wagon= US$ 271.00

I had a 77 Lincoln Continental with a 460 and I did see a 78 Lincoln with one it it too. I thought, at the time, that 77 was the very last year for the 460 and that the 78 was a transplant. Guess I was wrong.

Its a Fishmouth wagon. They have that open mouth front end. I didnt think They were based on the Torano, its was the same front end as the ranchero. Ive seen Rancheros with that same front end. In their heyday the Torano was a muscle car. Loved thoes , in fact the 71 Ford Torano GT had hideaway headlamps and a factory functional hood scoop which was also on the 71 Ranchero. The hood scooop in this wagon in the pic isnt stock, they probably took it from a Ranchero

Yup....I like those cars, too, 27. In their day they were a racy looking car with snort. I like the fish mouth wagons too. For the money I would sure go look at this one if it was closer. Hate the paint job but if the car was fairly nice I would buy it for that price. I doubt it will last long at that money.
