This 1957 Ford Anglia has been for sale by the same person...for YEARS. Cute car, but it's not worth anywhere near what he's asking for it.

I'm guessing maybe $4,000 at best. What do you guys and gals think?

Impossible to gauge the value of a car like this. I wonder if one of these has changed hands in the last 10 years (assuming any are left) even in Britain. Of course, the left hand drive suggests it may be Canadian.

For me, almost $20K for a car you don't dare drive on the highway -- at least in my area where everyone is a NASCAR driver wannabe -- seems, shall we say optimistic.

Still, I expect he could get more than $4K from the right buyer. It wouldn't surprise me if it went for $8K - $10K to a Brit car enthusiast.

It being a left-hand driver makes it even more rare. Being a Brit vehicle doesen't necessarily mean it was first registered in Canada. Very unusual vehicles also ended up in the 50 states. The fun ended, as soon as safety requirements took effect, a dacade later

I agree with Marshall, it's a cute car. But I think the seller is going to continue owning this car for a long time with that asking price.

I think that some sellers with dollar signs on their eyes seem to think that an 'unusual' car can command just about any amount the seller decides it's worth. Where did the seller come up with that $19,500 price? When you have an older car in that kind of price range (almost as much as a new Toyota Camry....) you are not just competing for a sale with others who have the same type of vehicle for sale, you're competing with EVERYBODY who has a car in that price range. I look at this one for $19,500, and my first thought is, "Is there another vehicle I would enjoy and appreciate more that this Anglia?" My answer would be an unequivocal "Yes - a lot of them."

I would compare this Anglia to perhaps this Hillman Husky...

I tend to agree with this line of thinking when I see something like this that is "rare" and "unusual". What else could I get for the money that I would like more than this?

That's easy to say, when you're not sitting in the car test-driving it. Also to consider is the fact that an alternative to that vehicle would be rare and hard to find.
I'm sure that that woody's going for more than a museum would pay. But, it's not the appraisal price which ultimately matters. Rather, it's the enchantment factor. To get more of that, he should post many more images, instead of just four
