Yes, we had a conversation Friday about adding insulation wherever possible. That should help the a/c and heater work better with our blazing summers and frigid winters.
Nice to see it looking like a car again. Lisa this is a fun project to watch. Also, how's Dave enjoying his new ride? Any new pics of that? Email them if you like.
Just read through, nice build on the old Chev, but one thing I didn't see mentioned is whether you're going to use stabilizer bars on front and back or just front. Most of these old vehicles didn't come with them but they do help in the stability and handling of the car plus they can be added anytime.
Get a hold of some accesory magazines and hot rod books. There are several companies who make universal kits that seem to work well.
There are kits made to retrofit using the original lever controls but the units are sized for sedans not wagons
Wow - yes, I've been away a long time! So sorry not to have filled you in sooner. Not much had been going on over the holidays, and then we had quite a run of bad weather which kept the body shop busy. But - I do have an update and some photos for you that I took today. Stephen has been doing lots of metal fabrication to replace parts that had rusted beyond hope. Here are the new rocker panels. We were unable to find parts, so Stephen fabricated them. Panel below the tailgate area is all-new fabrication, neatly welded in. What is this called - the sill plate? Fabricated, and ready for painting. The new replacement lower quarter panel is now welded into place. I tried to find the seams but couldn't. Looks very smooth! New floor behind the rear wheel well. Can't remember what he called this stuff, but you guys probably know. It's a sealer kind of thing that's extra runny and really gets into the cracks. Stephen said it was the same kind of stuff originally used on the car. Getting down to bare metal on those iconic wings. The dashboard.... Keeping that 350 engine dust-free... We're not too far off from getting some big pieces painted, and put back onto the car.
Beautiful update! Thank you and I love the detail pictures. Looking forward to seeing the car back on the road, but until then... keep the updates coming please.
Yes on the nice color and the updates. I'm sure a lot of us have been wondering and worrying about the progress of our wagon!
Lisa , the wagons body work looks great! Glad to hear from you . Hope to start on my own body work soon . My chassis is coming along slowly , as they have had bad cold in Al. Too . Keep us posted . Blue
Thanks for bearing with me. I'll try not to let so much time go by between updates. On the color, we tried to get close to the original scheme. The top will be white, as it was originally.
