Original owner 42-year-old wagon with power tailgate for just $1800!!!! Some surface rust, but the body appears sound! Looks like quite a deal! http://inlandempire.craigslist.org/cto/4335446015.html
...virtually in my backyard. Can't help but wonder about the undercarriage, given that it appears to be sinking into the ground. Regardless, I REALLY hope this doesn't go to a derby.
Yeah, I like how they advertised it for a derby. Some people have no idea. Looks like the airbag has deployed. lol. (Honestly, not sure what that is, because GM didn't have airbags until 1974, lol. I think some '73 Impala test cars had them, but only in the sedans I think). Despite being on the ground, hopefully being a desert car it has stayed dry underneath for the most part. I bet the interior is literally baked out of it.
Ok, it's now in the 'forum parting out' section, and it has new photos, and the white interior looks pretty good from what we can see!!!! It has PDL and tilt wheel also! http://www.stationwagonforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=29842 Attached Thumbnails
From the sound of the part out ad, (selling everything except body, chassis and suspension) it looks like derby time for that poor wagon. Shame because it is clean, straight and complete.
I bought if off CL from Apple Valley. Yes, sorry to be a heart breaker. But we need it for demolition derby - interior is in surprisingly good shape. Is there anything else with significant value, how about the glass? I'm not in the dismantling business with no interest to store part for any duration of time, but would cut a smoking deal to someone local for parts.
Rare car (rare in general and rare because it is so solid and rarely optioned for an Impala - power door locks and power gate are rarely seen on the Impala) gets rarer it seems... that is OK, maybe it will make my '72 even more valuable down the road. I am sure that the tilt wheel set up would sell easily, as would all of the interior, glass, power door lock set up, bumpers, etc.
