Yeah, mofo. I like this car, too. As I said above...if it isn't rusty underneath it could be a deal. I doubt the seller has owned it long. Doesn't say much about the car except what's obvious. Doesn't even mention what engine is in it. I would like to have this car sitting at my buddy's shop.:D

If this car was in my town I would go look at it just out of curiosity.:D I like the looks of these Exner cars, but, I like the later "Jetson" dashes better. I think it was the 59's that came out with the pod clusters on the dash top. I loved those. Still do. Anyway...the guy isn't asking an arm & a leg for this car so....if it's not rusty and I had time I might jump it. Well....I like the later dashes better so maybe not. Still could be a great deal on this car, though.

Looks mostly un-touched. (other than by mice) Wonder if it runs?

Says the engine would not turn over with new battery....other stuff worked but not the engine. I don't know what that means....wiring problem? Frozen? Said it ran when parked in 1974...:biglaugh: To me, the engine is never the problem. I can fix or drop a different engine in a car, but, I hate a bad body on a car. I'm no body man. I would still like to have this car sitting at my buddy's shop.:yup:

What I meant was "can it run"? '68 Fury' worked for weeks on his project before selling it, not being an engine man. Turned out the engine was broke internally rather than frozen.

If it has just sit since 1974 (Arab oil embargo and the cost of fuel being the reason most likely) then it should turn over. Probably just corrosion on the various bits that have to close a connection. Could also be a fuse or something simple, but the first step is fresh oil and gas. Then turn the engine over with no spark just to get the oil circulating would be my suggestion.

I passed the auction on to NW Classics located here in Salem. Ernie likes Mopar and wagons and his shop will do a great job on it if they win it.

In 1958 Dodge only offered two engine choices in the Sierra wagon line 350 and 360 with both a manual 3 speed and a TorqueFlite 3 speed automatic. This according to the web. (But I am occasionally wrong)

I looked up an old Dodge catalog on-line, but they only had a '57 - no '58. Not too many changes between '57 and '58 I believe though......
Apparently a '325 Cu in 'Red Ram' was one of the options. The call it an engine with "hemispherical combustion chambers with single rocker arms.."
    - not the 'Hemi' that we are familiar with. I think they call this a 'Poly' motor - ? Anyway, the engine in the 'for sale' wagon is definitely NOT a Hemi.

Ernie and Marty own and run a restoration shop here in Salem Oregon. Northwest Classics.
They do wonderful work on old cars and are currently restoring a 1954 Chrysler Newport with Hemi, including all the bells and whistles. They just finished up a 2-door wagon (52,53 or 54) that I want to show you guys... but it has yet to see the sun.

I just finished a new logo for the shop that will culminate in t-shirts and other stuff later.

    Very cool car guys.

Very good value, it looks to be a complete car and the chrome actually looks really good. I agree KK, I think that is what they call a "poly" motor. Jim68cuda can confirm it I'm sure.
