Fairmont Wagon for $4K?

This guy must be out of his mind!!! Mine is just as clean as his, and I'd never think of asking $4K for it. I doubt I'd ever sell mine anyway. I'd like to find another Fairmont/Zephyr wagon for a DD, but not this one.

That's the problem with a really nice car, if you buy it with the intention of 302'ing it, it's too nice to molest.

 

I didn't know that the 1979s got that nice trim along the sides. Ain't payin' no $4K for them though.

 

In order to make a reasonable best offer.....he needs to start out with a reasonable price.

 

Don't remember if was packaged separately from the deluxe interior, but those moldings were part of what was called the 'appearance package', or some such - this morphed into the 'Futura' trim in '81 or so.......

 

Hard to find a decent set. The 1982 Cougar trim would fit, or the Zephyr wagons. Maybe the sedans.

 

Well, found out today the wife's unemployment was stopped. Right now, we have $0 coming in. Looks like a tight Christmas season, and no 2nd wagon for me.

You've probably seen it a few times over the years too, Mike. "Out of chaos, comes order." You don't get rattled, you don't get panicked, you stay in the eye of the storm, and think like a Marine. Improvise.

What ticks me off, is that I come up with all kinds of ways to do stuff, and some are Patentable, and I don't have time to get them going. That's another level of 'poverty' - just no time. I've got a file drawer full of sketches and some mockups, and I just end up giving them away to folks with a spark for innovation and the guts to make it happen.

I could file an Industrial Design for about 15 of them (like $150 to file for each one), and then watch some Asian bring it to market in 6 months (which would really pi$$ me off! ) or give a compadre a hand up.

 

Those moldings really do make a nice difference, let alone the fact they're big enough to actually prevent parking lot dings.

 

I had them on my 1981 Futura wagon, when new. They really finish the car nicely. The Squire mouldings are nice, but that black band does keep the door crashers at bay.
