Here is the wagon at the station fueling up then back in the driveway. They are all pretty much crap pics, but its the best I could do considering the conditions. I still have the 2.47 rear gear with stock suspension and I was going to try to break her tonight to see what she had in her. Then go to the 4.88 gears and see how much the gears and suspension helped on the time slip. Hope you like them even a lot of them look the same.
Thanks, its my work car......... lol. I do drive it 60 miles round trip 6 days a week to work and back. So that 360 miles a week not counting the trips out to lunch every day and around the house here.
Oh boy will you notice a difference going from 2.47:1 to a 4.88:1. You may wish to reconsider either commuting 60 miles with this car or that ratio. Long ago I had a car (454 Camaro)with 4.56:1 and 235/60 x 15" tires. This was about the limit for any kind of even moderate highway driving, gave it to the wife as she had a shorter commute. (Only years later, under the influence of lots of alchohol did she admit how much she enjoyed it) A friend had 4.88s in a Nova that was unpleasant over 50 MPH. Another had 5:13s, also in a big block Nova that was just unusable for anything but racing. After blowing up his 427 he put in a boneyard six while fixing the big block, it could still lift the wheels! Big gears are a blast but at the cost of engine revs(life) and limited usefulness. Unless you have VERY tall tires I'd stay under 4.56 if you plan on having a useful car. A 4.10 or 4.11 with 1:1 top gear and 28" tires will have you buzzing ~3 grand at 60 mph if I recall correctly. Just my $.02
streetmonkey, it sure stands loud and proud! Ross makes some good points, but he kicked in my sweet little imagination. What about re-gearing the 5-speed for the 4.88 axle?
