The Matrix and Vibe are actually categorized at 'wagons' (at least that's what my damage estimating program VIN decoder calls them...)

The Scion and Kia...I dunno. At least they're shaped like wagons.....
I own a HHR, and to me it's clearly a wagon (albiet a small one..) I had a Ford Focus wagon before this, and the HHR does basically the same thing the Focus did. If you ditched the retro styling, I don't think most people would have trouble calling it a wagon.

i would defiantly call an HHR a wagon. and if i got stuck with a 4 banger econobox. that would be my first choice. id probably get the SS just because i dont do well steping down in engine size....when i sold my 4.0 powered jeep...it was ugly, i had the focus hatch that i replaced it with up to the same hp within 6 months!

The HHR was a blatant rip-off of the PT Cruiser,IMHO.

Let's just say different execution of the same theme. I've had both.
I wouldn't necessarily put them both in the same class though. The HHR has quite a bit more cargo space, and feels a bit more refined than the PT.

The design teams for both cars was headed by Brian Nesbitt.
Having driven both, and hearing of the frequent visits to the Chevrolet service department by a close friend and HHR owner, I (I can't believe I'm saying this) am GLAD that we have a Chrysler.
(Self nominee for "longest run on sentence award 2010, here.)
The little beast has the best engineered interior I have seen in any car.

As for the Pontiac / Toyota little wagons, I have driven neither, but I think the Pontiac looks better.
I thought maybe about buying one, once, but The Chrysler was a super deal, and after adding a few readily available aftermarket items, it doesn't look so cheap.

They aren't wagons, My Astro van was titled as station wagon too and it sure didn't look like one.
PT's and HHR's are more like four door milk trucks or pre 50's four door cars IMO.

A true wagon should have a lot more quarter panel behind the tires, at least enough room for a spare tire.;)

The PT Cruiser design was based on the '39 Ford, so who ripped off who???

The HHR does have room for the spare, under the rear storage bin. I don't know where the PT has theirs.

The PT and HHR are just tall hatchbacks. The Matrix and Vibe are just hatchbacks shaped like a wagon. And neither one has squat for room.

If those cars are wagons, I guess my mom's Freestyle is as well. And it ain't.....

I know I can fit more of my DJ equipment in the HHR than my Marquis wagon. The definition of wagons is open for debate just as what constitutes a muscle car. I suppose I should just remove myself from this forum because someone disagrees with the car I own.:banghead3:
