here are some pictures of henry the wagon driving thru the USA.... despite the breakdown of the oil driveshaft in Cody WY.
Just the way it was done 44 years ago. Except for that delay in Cody it's the 1960's all over again. The wagon packed to the hilt and the kids wanting to stop to see all the souvenier shops! Been there and done that twice with my brother and our parents in a 66 Chevy Bel Air wagon. Packed to the hilt and stuff on the roof rack. Fantastic memories.
Great car and scenery, ironically earlier today I was admiring this Ford Fairlane down here in Aus. Oh, how I wish it it was closer to the condition of yours!!! http://cars.ebay.com.au/AMERICAN-FORD-FAIRLANE-500-STATIONWAGON-1967-MODEL_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQitemZ120432318407#ebayphotohosting Unfortunately too big of a project for me
You have to read this Restoration thread and all the pics. The DOC (Brian) has done a magnificent job of it! http://www.stationwagonforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1380
well gents, it is my duty to inform you with the saddest of hearts that "henry" the faithful station wagon has passed away. the motor seemed to eat itself up somewheres along rapid city SD. something was knocking seriously and without having a facility nor the tools to replace the engine i had to do the worst thing of all. henry has been traded away for "joe the jeep" i know i know im the most horrible man around. but its the best for the family. thanks all for the support throught out all this..... i will be on here still sharing new adventures with "joe the jeep" Raf p.s. im still sad....
Maybe the new owner will perform a much needed transplant. Apparently the bad oil pump shaft had robbed the inner heart of much needed pressure and bearings suffered way too much. I'm sorry to hear the news. We mourn with you.
Thats too bad $arge but your rite, whats best for the family is what matters. Can't spend a vacation wiating for a older car to repared.
So sad.......... Poor old Henry just wasn't up to a marathon....... This is one reason why I'm not necessarily for 'authentic' restoration. I wouldn't mind an old body with modern mechanicals.......
$arge, that's a tough pill. How is the Jeep? When the going gets tough, the tough keep going, right? Safe landings and happy trails, and let us know what the next one is. May 'Enrique rise again to its class."
