In the movie, "Christine", the 58 Plymouth only pulled in music on the radio from the late 50's.
We have wagons here from all eras and from all over the world. Since you can find just about anything on Youtube these days, I thought it would be interesting if everyone posted links to four tunes that were popular in the model year your wagon was born. Preferably, this would be music that you like yourself, but it Must be from the model year of your wagon.

For variety, the four songs would be as follows:

1: One song by a band or vocalist from your own country
2: One song by a band or vocalist from a country other than your own
3: One Instrumental with no vocals
4: One song from a movie soundtrack (from a movie released in the model year of your wagon, can be vocal or instrumental)

I thought this might be fun for those who care to participate. For those who have multiple wagons from different model years, each wagon and the songs affiliated with it would be a separate post.

To get things started, I'll go first.

My wagon is a 67 Plymouth Belvedere, and I live in Virginia, U.S.A.

A 1967 song I like from an American band is
"I Had Too Much Too Dream Last Night" by the Electric Prunes.
(for years I thought it was "drink" not "dream" in the lyrics.)

A 1967 song from a band outside the U.S. that has always been a favorite is "Nights in White Satin" by the Moody Blues (a British band).
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9muzyOd4Lh8

For an instrumental from 1967, I'll select "The Wave" by Antonio Carlos Jobim.
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a6KDpB6skA4

And from the soundtrack of the 1967 movie, "Casino Royale" is the movie's theme by Herb Albert and the Tijuana Brass.
(The movie was lame, but listening to Herb Albert and the Tijuana Brass brings back memories of my dad who had all their albums on reel to reel tape. )

Anyone else interested in playing this game? Think of it as giving us a short ride in your wagon with the radio tuned in to your favorite station, when your wagon was brand new.

If your wagon's model year has already been posted, please try to post musical selections from that year that are different from those already posted. (its okay if you can't find a good selection for all four catagories, and only post a selection for one or two catagories).

Also, to maintain interest and keep things going, you can post an additional 4 songs (one from each catagory) from the model year of your wagon every seven days if you like (but no duplication of previous songs). You'll become an expert on the music of one particular year.

This is a grate ideer for a thread! If no one objects, I'll take 1963 in honor of my family's 1963 Olds F85 Deluxe wagon? (which we no longer have sadly). I really liked the Prunes tune Jim!

Looking forward to seeing (hearing) what music was playing on the F-85's radio in 63. I think you'll find this game to be a bit challenging. I had to look up the year of release and the orgin of the band for the Electric Prunes song before including it. Good luck with 1963.

Good choices. I love the surf music sound. Some of the best instrumentals of all time are surfin tunes.
I expected your soundtrack choice to be from one of those beach party movies with Annette Funicello and Frankie Avalon, or from a James Bond movie, but I hadn't heard of the one you posted, and posting some selections that might not be familiar to everyone is part of the fun.

    Interesting game, Jim...
However, since my wagon is a 2006, I'm gonna bow out for now. I don't think I like anything from 2006.

I do like your 'foreign' choice though.
We saw the Moody Blues in concert here last year.

Krash, you give up too easy. I can't believe you can't find a single song from 2006 that you like. You're probably like me and don't even know what songs there were in 2006. Maybe you can at least find a movie soundrtrack from '06 that you like.

In all fairness, since I made Krash go back and find music from 2006, I had to go back and find music to go along with my 2002 VW Passatt wagon.
I know nothing about the music of 2002 (not exactly a banner year for classic rock). But, like Krash, I was at least able to come up with three of the four selections from 2002.

"Soak up the Sun" by Cheryl Crow (Great summer time song)
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7ivz7cqXHKc

Theme from the 2002 movie "Catch Me If You Can" (Enjoyed the movie and lots of 50's and 60's cars in the movie. The theme and opening sequence of the movie has an early 60's "Alfred Hitchcock" feel to it, but isn't really a memorable soundtrack. )

I found this instrumental that I really like from 2002, but I can't translate what or who it is. I don't recognize the language. It may be from whatever movie clips are being shown in the video, but I don't know. The music is pretty cool, and theres a couple of mid 90's Caprice wagons at the end of the video being used as hearses.

Good selections Steve. I was 16 in '76, so that would have been an easy year for me. I had the Eagles and the Pink Floyd albums those first two songs were on.

I'm having trouble figuring out what's a 'foreign' artist, since I've barely heard of most of them on the hit list for '06. Still looking for an instrumental as well. Found something from Ricky Scaggs (with another backing group), but I can't confirm it was recorded in '06...

Hope the wagon thing dosent really matter, since I no longer own one. I have a 1962 Buick Skylark.

    1962 was a great year.

    John F Kennedy was President.

I think the best song made from the year 1962 was ....

    The Loco-Motion by Little Eva.

as far as film, Whatever Happened to Baby Jane is my favorite movie from 1962. No soundtrack for that tho.

I swear if these cars could talk ......

Instrumental - Green Onions by Booker T and the MGs
