I have acquired a great colony park and would like to add a third seat to it. There appears to be enough room to do so just wondering if anyone has done it before.
You mean the DFRS? (Dual-Facing Rear Seats) I believe they use the same 'doors' as the 2-seat wagon. You just need to find the seats and some brackets. Best place is to check a salvage yard, and do a Craig's List search for somebody parting out a wagon. You should be able to use seats from the full-size Ford or Mercury wagons from '73 to '78 (maybe earlier). Do not attempt to use seats from a '79 or newer wagon. They were redesigned that year, and are on a smaller platform. Marshall
check the floor pan before you get to involved in the chevy's the floor pan and spare tire location change the pan ,interior and spare tire location
1977 should have drilling dimples in that area, because Ford often sold those for dealers to install on new cars, already on their lots. Make sure you get any seat belt hardware too.
I've done that mod. It was on an '89 Crown Vic, similar layout. I drilled around the brackets on the donor car (they are nearest the 2nd seat) and sawed them out. They were then welded into my car at the dimples. The rest of the installation,if you have a donor car, hardly even requires tools. The '73 wagon that I have now has no DFRS (Dual Facing Rear Seats),but finding one was amazing, I can't imagine there'd be another '70s wagon around here.
