Obsolete and unavailable from ford... MIne are scratching the glass. Anybody ave an idea on what kind of fabric they use on those? It's a heavy felt type fabric. I looked around a local fabric store and didn't find anything

I got something that looks like the soft half of the two-part Velcro tape. I used it in my rear division bars on the rear door windows. Work perfectly. It comes in a 4" wide roll, but most fabric shops could sell you by the foot. What I got did come from a speedshop, but the guy told me he got it from a speedshop that was closing down. It's not like what they call fuzzies, it's more like a really thick and stiffer Velvet. Velcro usually sells in rolls from 1/2", 3/4", 7/8", 1", 1.25", 1.5", 2" and wider. You can usually buy one or both parts individually.

Hmm, I've got some industrial velco at work....Wonder why I didn't think if that!

    Thanks!

Now the fun part is completely disassembling the tailgate to get to the guides.

Well, I got my hands on some velcro the other week. Time and good weather have been scarce though. Sometime I'll get this done...

You've probably worked with it before, but on my division bars, I had to cut parallel slots for the nylon holders. I used an Exacto knife with a rounded blade. The pointed blade could have worked, but I wanted to cut through both thicknesses at the same time since these nylon holders are 1" high and 1/8" thick. They went through the metal division bar, so precision was critical. You might just have to cut to length and width unless they run into the inner door tracks. One of those drugstore surgical blades would work too.

Well, I got 'em done. These are the little tab type thingies that have felt on em. I did all 4 with roughly a 7x1" section of velcro. The innner ones were like 1.5" so I used 2 pieces on those. Looks great, and no more metal grinding on the tailgate glass!

I took some pics, but can't upload them from home. I'll try and get them up monday.

Yeah, those tab-type thingies looked like a tough-case until I got down and dirty. Pretty clean, huh?

Look forward to the pics. :)

I didn't think it was going to be too bad. The hardest part was finding the material to replace the felt with! Actually, it's pretty nice out again...I'm gonna go toss the interior panel back in! I've been dodging storms all day.

Dunno, this is a piece we had sitting around at work I borrowed....It's velcro brand stuff. It usually lasts decently. I hope it lasts for a while.

That'll outlast a new paintjob. Good stuff - It's dyed nylon (the real stuff) whereas the knockoffs are rayon and polyesther blends, IIRC.
