i agree nascar attendence is down but the southern 500 has a special memory to me. as a 8 yr old kid in brooklyn ny my dad used to do a movie night for all the kids in the neighborhood . one neighbor loaned his garage door and my dad loaned his movie projector and the nyc library loaned us a movie about the southern 500 . my neighborhood was a racial mix but we all sat and watched the movie with no problems. plus the race has a retro theme and it looked cool on tv last yr

Is Darlington the weird track that prompted the Car of Tomorrow redesigns?

not sure what you mean by wierd but it is called the lady in black. it is a wierd shape due to a pond that they saved when it was built. it is the oldest speedway i believe

It's the fact it doesn't have the high-banked curves as Daytona or Talladega that meant the cars would have to be redesigned to get more down force to hit those curves they do have at higher speeds without flipping like a slot car.

Oh, yeah, that's what made Darlington weird...no banking on the curves!

Darlington is probably one of their best events now.

I just wish they got their 2nd Date back.
