with all the problems in the world .this person decides to sit during the national anthem. what is your opinion? mine is while i respect his right to protest i think his cause is misguided . yes police violence is a small problem but that is like a needle in the haystack . i do ot believe that dishonoring the men and women, black, white ,asian , spanish or anyone i have missed that gave thier life so he could protest do not deserve that. how about you protest by donating your entire multimillion dollar contract and all endorsements to your cause I SAY IF HE IS NOT FIRED BOYCOTT THE NFL i mean after all that would be the only politically correct solution
I'm not the one to ask, I haven't watched a game sense they let the dog killing QB play again after he served his time. I just thought it was inappropriate to pay him millions when anyone else with that felony would have had trouble getting a greeters job at Wallmart. So unfortunately I do not even know what you are referring to, as I have been blocking it all out for years.
All I have to say is that, in making his statement, if he is sanctioned, guess what? He bears the responsibility and accountability of his actions, same as when the Dixie Chicks' lead singer Natalie Maines spoke up at a concert and said that she essentially hated President Bush, to, IIRC, a Texas crowd. Their subsequent gigs were cancelled, recording sales plummeted, and a lot of nasty things were said about Maines. Well, she paid the price and did not complain much about her action. So let's see what Kaepernick does. Yes, he does have the right, if he wishes, for whatever reason, to sit out the National Anthem, yes, he does have the right of free speech guaranteed by the country the anthem commemorates, and the flag represents, to say those things; what other countries give you that right? Not as many as you'd think. In my humble opinion, do I think he was wrong? I do. Dr. Martin Luther King always made clear how much he loved this country, under God, while bringing peaceful, non-violent protest to the fore to bring true equality to all. Even in the face of violent police officers, he did so. And so, if Kaepernick had done things a little differently, say, helping protesters arrested with bail, calling for peaceful and non-violent protests, calling for protest without destroying and stealing property, etc., I think he would not be getting villified in the press and online.
Shee-yitt. If we're not boycotting the NFL over contractual salaries, we're certainly not boycotting them over the National Anthem and race relations. We as a society just do not want to sacrifice.
It's about two weeks later and there is a decline in overall attendance numbers through all the teams. So we'll see by Thanksgiving if the trend continues down.
If more people were like me, there wouldn't be an NFL or any other professional sports where grown men are paid outrageous amounts of money to chase a ball. These people would have to get real jobs. I rarely, if ever watch any sports on TV. I've been to 3 pro football games in my life and only because the tickets were free and I was "begged" by the ticket holder to go. I don't want to live in a country where you are forced to pledge the flag or stand for the National Anthem. If you're forced to do it, it no longer has the same meaning. If he was just ignored after he took a knee, this wouldn't be the big deal it has become. But, the media along with social media has made it a bigger deal than it should have been.
This goes for all pro sports for me. Way back when I saw men who grew up loving the team they played for sold to play against the teams they loved for even more money I decided it's no longer a sport, just another dirty business deal. Auto racing is even worse. Everyone drives the same computer controlled car. We do respect our Country and flag but I also agree we should not be FORCED to stand or pledge to it. We do it out of respect. Since America is about to change again drastically we have bigger things to worry about.
