hey folks, doing a shout out for some shop recommendations...
I had a mechanical failure and let's just say it was a doozy...I need a place if anyone knows one near San Jose California where the axle housing on my 1960 Chevy wagon can be straightened out. It's not bad but just enough to leak via the seals on one side. Getting a replacement is way more expensive than straightening.
    I'm near Monterey, ca...

    Thank you!!!

Yea I getcha, however I've invested some cash already on parts that fit the stock housing and not an upgrade.

Thanks for your input tho...I appreciate it.

To get the housing straightened has to be few and far between. Once the housing is bent most places are going to replace. I'm not sure which rear you have, just guessing a Hotchkis 8.2 so my guess is going to be if it can be done it will be by a "ole timer" in a little known shop that you would never suspect. Good luck but you may be better cutting your losses and converting to something else like a 10 bolt, 12 bolt or a Ford 8.8 or 9 inch. Only replying because I have a 8.2 ready for a rebuild and have realized it will be cheaper and easier to replace with something else. Best of luck.

A race car fab shop ought to be able to replace the axle tubes.

Once in a while, you can find an exhaust shop or an alignment shop with a press that was used to straighten straight front axles on older cars. They can do what you need done usually without pulling the whole assembly out of the car. These guys are few and far between so you'll have to do some searching. They're out there but like I said, difficult to find. Try a rod shop that does straight front axle roadsters or gasser type hotrods.
    Good luck.

Thanks everyone...found a shop in Fresno that will straighten without a big blow to the wallet...now the trick is to get it there somehow....hauler probably.
