I have a 66 Mercury Colony Park that was missing the bottom right latch in the tailgate. I purchased one and installed it last night. Everything works fine, except I cannot get the latch to hook and lock around the bottom stop - hence I cannot flip the tailgate down - it only will open to the side.

Any ideas here on how to make the latch catch and lock? It looks like it is very very close to locking in place, and I can't find an adjustment that would allow me to move the pin or the latch to make it stick.

Also, this was off a 68 Colony Park - but my pin is a 66. Wondering if they were different specs or something?

Ideas would be hugely helpful here!

Here's the guy to ask. The Doc has a 1967 Country Squire. And he knows that gate intimately. Send him a PM with a link to your post?
