Not this year, but here is a link with the dates and locations for interested parties: http://www.hotrod.com/powertour/hrdp_1206w_2013_power_tour_dates_cities/
this years tour will tax the cooling system, brakes and steering. as you know texas is hot. but once yo hit tenn and the carolinas brakes will be used heavily. other then that it can be addictive to some . but it is up to you whether you follow everyone direction they give you or just meet the group at the venue's. last year i took loads of side trips along the route and had loads of fun . at least sunday morning i would say attend the drivers meeting after that they are basically all the same . check out bangshift.com for more info and hotrod.com
Met the group on the last stop in '99 and 2000 in Panama City Beach. One day I will be a long hauler!! May have my Jazzy lift on the back of my car but I am gonna do it!
We were planning to go that route for vacation anyways, just 2 weeks later. So the plans have changed. Not weve got 3 months to totally redo our Z28. Maybe next year we can get the wagon ready .
This year I plan on doing the 1st leg only to Texarkana. Last year I met everyone in Arlington and enjoyed the show! A couple buddies got together and it was one big party!
I plan to do this in the sedan, vehicle mechanical integrity willing, at least to Texarkana, whether the wife agrees or not. Hopefully I'll have replaced my seats by then, too.
one thing i can tell you that once your on the tour you will have unlimited help in the event of a breakdown
I have always wanted to go, almost did couple of years ago, long story about cutting out a rust spot to fix it before the tour. you know where this goes. it was a 62 double cab vw. but the rust behind the rust behind the rust anyway ..67 fairlane wagon 302/C4 trans if I can get it pulled together in time I will be there. unless I can get someone to trade me a driving wagon for my jeep
I'll be taking the wagon and the family the entire tour this year. I've run parts of the tour dating back to the '90's and it is a lot of fun. Last year I took the family, picked up the tour in Miami, Oklahoma and continued to Arlington. I saw both 59 wagon man and gpd294's cars but never connected with them. Hopefully this year will be different. I've got a lot to do on my wagon before then but regardless it will be going. It is great fun. A cool car show every night, awesome cars to cruise with all day and every little town you go through it's an instant parade complete with bystanders in lawn chairs waving at you. Every gas stop and snack break is a car show too and all the people are great. Last year we met a family of four (two litle boys) in a '58 Chevy wagon. They were a bit shocked to find out we had five kids in our wagon (my four kids and my nephew). We had a great time.
need to put some disk brakes on my fairlane, have the gas tank out getting fixed now. no Idea what to do about the plastics in the back. I have to put a new clutch in my jeep and get it sold, and the weather is not helping. But I should have time to pull it all together.
1st part POWER TOUR 2013 Well Guys I hope we meet this year sometime during the tour. Again, I only plan on doing the 1st leg to Texarkana, but if yall see me sitting on the tailgate ( ) please stop by and say Hi!
