just redoing my 66 caprice wagon, front seat is being redone, back seat and door panels are good, low budget rebuild lol. the rear section was all vinyl on the side covers and in really bad shape, i saw pics of a similar wagon and all the panels were painted instead of recovered, thinking about going that direction, what do you guys think?
If you can get the surfaces in the "way back" area smooth enough, I would use a vinyl paint like SEM. I have had good luck with SEM in the interior of my Colony Park.
Just to make sure, are you talking about the lower trim panels covering the the wheelhouses in the cargo area? If you've got a nice interior otherwise, and the front seat is being redone, why not just do the rest of it 'right' and reupholster the panels?' Hope you enjoy your '66 Caprice. My folks had one back in the 60's, bought new. It was a low-option one - only a 327, and not even A/C. Here's the only pic I have showing it: That's my nephew in the pic, which was taken in '66 or '67. I would have been 15 or 16 at the time.
Krash somehow I think this picture was meant to be of the nephew. He is kind a cute but the wagon is sure nice. I liked the 327's.
Yeah, I'd crop it, but then you would have a corner of his head and everybody would go, "What's that?"........ We were not really a 'car family' or even a 'picture family' much, so I take what I can get...........
Same here. Our family never had many car photos and I can't find any now. Even as much as I loved my cars I never took many actual car photos. Cameras were awkward and we didn't take those we had to many places. Seems that now almost everyone is taking cell phone pictures. Selfies! That's why I love the early street scene pictures and others.
