Hello, Folks! Newbie on this site. We own a '68 Cutlass Flat Top Wagon, painted to resemble a '68 Hurst/Olds, that is driven across the country. We also own a '92 Oldsmobile Custom Cruiser that we will drive to Sturbridge, MA, for the OCA Nationals, leaving this Saturday. Great road car. Glad to finally take the time to log on the SW site, and will probably be viewing daily, as I am retired.

Welcome Aron. I'm lovin your pair of Olds wagons. Great idea painting the 68 to look like a Hurst Olds. Another member, 442, has an 80 Cutlass wagon that's been made into a 442. Glad to have you onboard.
there are several of us here from North Texas. Before you know it we might out number the Canadians. Hope you enjoy the forum there are alot of really smart people on here, that can answer just about anything to do with a wagon. Have a safe trip.

Hey Aron, Welcome to the forum! I really like your totally cool '68 flattop longroof! Have a great time at the Olds Nationals...your '92 should be a comfortable ride all the way up and back...wish I could go, but I'm planning on the Buick Nationals in Ames, IA at the end of the month. Gotta tell you a little true story about North Texans. My wife and I moved from Guadalajara Mexico in mid-August 1999, coming across in this same Fairmont Squire wagon that I just recently restored, up to where we live in Canada. The trailer was built by a small Mexican company, owned by a Texan, using Nissan truck parts - all American made trailer components (hookup, electrics, etc.). One trailer wheel started getting loose up by Waco, TX. I stopped at a small junkyard and bought a 4-way tire wrench. My Ford wrench was too small. Late Saturday afternoon. $5.00. We drive down the road about 50 miles. The water pump dies. The wife's hungry, and only a small 'everything' hardware store. He had a water pump for the 302, with Gasket and antifreeze. $30 bucks for everything. The car had the AC system, dual pulleys, 95 degrees outside. Remember now, we have Mexican plates, my wife is Mexican. I fixed the pump on the roadside while the wife stayed and chatted in Spanish with the store owner's wife. He's not Mexican, she was Mexican-American. Divine people! We drive north for a couple hours and pull into a Motel - $49. Next morning (Sunday), we take our time, have breakfast, and off we go to one of the last major towns in North Texas - don't recall the name. Its about 4:00 PM, the hitch welds break off, in front of a Supertest gas station. The owner says he can't fix it, but he knows a farm implement repair guy that might. He calls him. If we hurry, he'll do it right away because he's got a tee-time at 5:30 PM with his golf buddies. We're there in 10 minutes, he used some kind of gas, heliarc welding equipment, and even today, 11 years later, that hitch has never given me problems. I've hauled up to 2 tons of wet peagravel in it, and not one issue! He wanted to charge me the 'Outrageous' sum of $20. I gave him $50! We could have lost our lives with that problem and he never even changed out of his golf clothes! I have never felt so much warmth and friendship and fairness anywhere in the 8 or 9 times that I have gone across Canada or the US! Sincerely. Outstanding people. So come on, North Texans! You guys are more than welcome.
