Selling off my Durango, the gas is killing me. The 70 Maverick and the 59 Rambler are taking way too long to get completed and I wanted to get something something with good mileage. This one is near perfect, engine and transmission were rebuilt about 2,000 miles ago on the Pinto and they get great mileage as I remember.

So this is my daily driver until I get the others on the road.

Nice looking Pinto. I learned to drive in my Dad's 79 Pinto wagon and later owned an 80 Pinto wagon. I don't think they were known for good gas mileage. I think you will be lucky to see mid 20's.

It sure beats my 9 miles a gallon I'm getting now LOL Actually, my sister had one and it was closer to 30, wasn't a wagon though, but a 4 banger like this one.

Thanks, still want the Rambler on the road :( Finding the engine parts was difficult to say the least, finally got them though! Taking forever to get it done, same with the Maverick. I get the Maverick back in about 2 weeks, but I won't be able to drive it until I finish the exterior - mostly sanding and priming. Getting there though :)

Thank you! Did you get your interior done?

    hey, hey, hey

They were good on gas, by 1973 standards, which meant about 16 to 18 city and around 24 to 26 highway--- with just one small person in the car... Have a friend who used to test drive Pontiacs, back in the 80's. They choose rather small people to test drive for mpg's. 120 pounds or less. Squeak out as much mileage as possible.

Oh I will on the gas mileage! I can't take the 9 MPG on the Durango anymore. It also came with a second rebuilt trans :D

Yeah about that interior (rubs back of neck looks at feet) not much progress this summer between sweltering heat and my wife wanting to triple the size of the garden...etc etc, didn't get a lot done, but I finally got two days in a row off work after 4 1/2 years so I am dedicating a portion of the second day to the wagon. That's is the plan! (y)

Hmmm (refer to post to Dianne) It's got me buggin Scout, I feel like such a slacker. I have a plan for this fall however, so I'm starting it and working on a build thread too.
