I bought this near Richmond Va., after I saw all the options (24) and it was red and a 138 serial number, course I never thought the 138 VIN ( Super Sport except Concours ) I would buy would be a woody Enjoy the pics. just finished replacing the power glide with a 700r overdrive transmission, getting ready to go to Nashville for the Chevellabration, I am a former Marine and have been working on Chevys of one sort or another since my first car a 55 Chevy also have a Harley Roadglide and a beautiful wife , a boy, girl, and 8 month old grandson. My family came to the Shenandoah Valley in 1723 and according to the sign on the Skyline Drive we got here first! The white car in the background is my 67 elcamino I am selling to buy the SC&C suspension and 4 wheel disc brakes with, next year God willing a LS engine and MORE POWER! I am thinking of keeping the patina cause everyone else paints theirs just a thought
OK, I'm seeing rally wheels, tilt steering, sport steering wheel, A/C, under-dash 8-track player (?).......what else? Very nice wagon. You know that red paint might shine up a bit.... Welcome to the forum, Ben. Marshall

Please tell us the difference in driveability with a 4-speed trans!! I've had both, but not one in a early car.
You got there first in 1723......just how old are you? J/K I think your car looks great the way it is(JMO) Is the wood still in good shape? And you have a radio...mine came with wipers and a horn. and great to meet you.
What a find. I'm envious. I like the looks of these years. Yours is one of the more optioned ones I've heard of, mostly the onese I've seen over the years are quite bare other than PS/PB and a few other basic necessities in todays world of comfort. I swapped out the hydramatic in my '57 Pontiac for a Turbo 350 and that was quite an improvement in power to the road. After 30 years I swapped in a 700R4 and love it. I should have done this a long time ago. Noticeable fuel economy improvement, I like the way it shifts, and it is great zipping down the highway at 70 with the tach sitting at just a tad under 2,000 rpm.
On our 55 Chevy wagon with HO 305 and Powerglide, switched to a 2004R. Liike night and day! But the Powerglide linkage was not hooked up right and shifted almost immediate to high. Still it was like going from a Crosley engine in a Greyhound to a big block in a rail job....... Or similar!
700r4 I pulled the 700r4 out of my 75 chevy .5 ton short bed and used it all did not have to buy a thing ,driveshaft was right ,just changed yokes on the 12 bolts , moved cross member back used 2 holes drilled 2 , used linkage out of pickup, cable it all worked love my Chevy's!
Powerglide to 700R4 I have been driving the car and what a transformation, good power off the line and since rear is a 3:06 its turned it to a 2:10 in fourth about 1900 rpms at 65 SWEET! The 700r4 is toast will be replacing it Monday, then the air compressor died replaced that today having all kinds of fun, oh well got insulation for car will try that over weekend leaving Thursday for Nashville
