Hello, I am a new member. Live in The Netherlands. A few months ago I bought a Mercury Station from 1985. It was stored for the winter but this week we will take it out on the road again and see how it runs. The car has an 1993 engine that came out of a Thunderbird. It is in reasonable condition. the interior looks rather good. Red leather. Several things have to be done to get it in better shape. We do not want a new look, but an aged car that runs is good enough. it is a nice project for me and my sons who are becoming rather good mecanics.
Welcome. That's very nice looking wagon. Good luck on your first road trip. And all the ones to follow.
Drove the Mercury yesterday and today, smooth rides. Only when you have to break quickly there is a bit of shudder when I continue. When you kick the gas it disappears. We also had that before the winter. We have been looking around on the internet and found some info on maybey a different gearbox oil. Or add anti shudder liquid. We will give it a try one of these days, apparently this is something that happens more often with Fords.
Again welcome. I wrote on the other post.....maybe the brake pads or shoes are worn, dragging, or warped. Check the brakes.
