Hi all heres my short story, A while back I bought a 1981 chevy Impala wagon (just for the motor) my intentions were to pull the motor and part the car out. the body was in rufffffff shape. Anyways as I was test driving the car I couldnt believe how good it handled and drove, the brakes felt strong. shocks seemed fine, trans shifted like new, motor was fine just a few old gaskets to replace. Forgot the tires were brand new also. So before I make a short story long I decided not to part it out but rebuild it, sometimes I have to wonder what I get myself into. Have to laugh the car kinda grows on ya, just a change from the old chevys I mostly rebuild, Right now the car is in primer after 2 weeks of stripping and bodywork. was a rush to get it to that point as I had to get a total right hip replacement. Its been almost 3 weeks since the operation doing fine now looking forward to getting back out to the shop to tinker again but its still going to be a while, Anyways I have taken pics throughout the work I've done on the car and will post them when I learn how to on this site, Dang I tend to ramble on, post turned way to long thanks for reading. Glad I ran across this website hope I can add to it in a positive way
Welcome luvtobuild, I know what you mean my wagon was bought for some parts I thought would be neat on other projects. The more I looked at it the more I liked it and decided it was a keeper...now if I can just get it together this year I will be happy. Glad you found us and again, Welcome, looking forward to the pictures.
Sometimes when you are a new poster here, the software places a temporary hold on loading your photos. The webmaster approves them in a day or two, and all is well. This confused me when I first joined. Here's hoping you feel well soon and can get back to your shop to work on your wagon.
Welcome luvtobuild, yup these little seem to work thair way into ya heart and with a little hard work and some love ya end up wih a wining cool ride
Welcome!! It's funny how these things get started...I bought my wagon as a second car daily driver. Next thing I knew my buddy and I were finishing the body work and I had dumped about 3 grand into her. Love is weird. Welcome to the forum!
to the forum. Great story, I'm a fan of these wagons too. Good thing you got your right hip fixed, you'll be needing that right foot to stomp on the gas. Can't wait to see you wagon...no need to wait for it to be painted, befores and afters are always fun.
