Hey, y'all...Been away for awhile with other distractions, but I thought of you guys first when I saw this listing. Might be kinda' cool if it can be authenticated... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1971...5727090?pt=US_Cars_Trucks&hash=item3367dad672
That wagon's been around (and for sale) for quite a while. Problem with it primarily, is that the Jackson 5 connection is not documented. (I would say it's probable, but unfortunately not good enough.)
Wellll,, could ask Daddy Joe ( if one can believe ANYthing that comes outta his mouth),, mebbe ask one of the other kids if they remember the car.. Persoanlly I would think current owners would have already done that... Perhaps a title search would show original owner...
Well...The gavel dropped Friday night (11:00 PM/ET), and "2***2" got it un-opposed for $10G's (a bit steep for my current wallet). Still, for a "1 of 3" model, it's significant, and even if it isn't "the" Jackson-mobile, if it's the last survivor it might be worth a trailer-ride out to the next B/J auction. Actually, I found it while lookin' for a suitable candidate for a long-haul cruiser out to UT/NV this summer. I've got no probs throwin' an air-mattress in the back, and skippin' the hotel bills. At close to $100-bucks a night, a week or two on the road starts to add-up. A nice, cush-cruiser with room in the back to stretch-out starts to make sense. You can always "tidy-up" at the nearest Flyin'-J truck-stop and, if yer Jonesin'. you could always rig a sat-dish to the luggage-rack.. ..
Lemme see; A USED CAR SALESMAN told the prior owner the car had been in a museum and touted it as having a celebrity connection. The prior owner claims to have met Tito at Starbucks and started babbling on about his old station wagon, Tito says "Yea, I remember it(get me out of here)". The current seller puts it up to his buyer to try and document the stories. Iron clad provenance for sure. Still a neat car, love the TV.
