Today I was advised to change my ignition coil. It’s dying….slowly.
On eBay there are a lot of coils for sale with very different prices as well.
Does anyone know which one will work for my ’86 LTD with 5.0 V8 engine?
Do I have to go for an original one or will a MSD be much better and why?

Next July I will be travelling from San Francisco via Las Vegas to LA.
So hopefully somebody can advice me a shop where to buy it as well ????:thumbs2:

This is the cheapest coil I saw listed. I believe it is $29.00+ Once you get on their page you can check others.

We ordered two aluminum radiators Sunday evening. Both arrived today 2PM eastern time. One day ahead of schedule.

That's the style you need, and they're available from many manufacturers; you can buy one at auto parts stores anywhere in the United States. When you and your wagon land here (at whichever port of entry you come into), I'm sure we can see about a member meeting you and helping you with obtaining it.

MSD coils are "better" if you are an MSD stockholder...

In your case, if your car is stock, go to RockAuto or your local auto parts store and just get a brand name replacement.

Haha, I wish I could! It will be a rentalcar, 2015 Ford Escape or something.

Thank you all for your advice!

Oh, okay, you made it sound as if you were bringing the car over with you. But yeah, they're cheap, easy to find and plentiful. Buy two so that you have one to run the car on while you send the bad one back to exercise the warranty on it. Just make sure you save the receipt.

:thumbs2: The one I have now has been used for almost 30 years / 100.000 miles (?)
so I don't believe they will accept the warranty request, haha. Thanks!
