For me and my family,it is tradition to go out after the big first snowfall to find an empty lot and do doughnuts.
We went to the same church parking lot for ten years until i got busted by the minister,LOL! Funny thing is he waited til I was done, and on the way out,he simply asked me to leave.
I apologized to him,but he knew I had been there before.
Maybe he was waiting for me ..who knows? LOL!!

Actually it is a great exercise in controlling the car.
I also never use the brakes--just throttle and steer.
You really get the feel of the car, know its limits and your own as well.LOL

I do that all the time. Last time was yesterday at the gas station got all the way around.
Dog and I were the first ones in the parking lot to go skiing one day, here is a nice park job I did in the van, note the slide marks under the car to the right of the van. Was a kick, got to where I wanted to be and punched right into place... :tiphat:

Z won't let me do donuts... At least not with her in the car. You can actually get a ticket for doing that here in Joplin even if you are in an empty parking lot.

Last time I did that I was 16....only I did it on water, on bald tires......and not really on purpose. Cop saw me spin out and end up parked against the curb on the wrong side of the street. Got a ticket for driving on the wrong side of the road. I told the cop I only parked on the wrong side of the road. He didn't buy it.

We in the snowy north have been drifting(double meaning) for decades ,yes it is great control lessons.

Skid, counter steer,recovery,..look where you want to go etc.

It's cool to go in a parking lot do a couple of do-nuts slide sideways pick a spot and part it!

Much fuel"wasted" over the years but i do miss my rwd with limited slip.

Oh,how I miss those days in the north. To be the first one in a 5 acre parking lot after a fresh snow writing my name in 100 ft cursive letters with my 63 Belair.

Below is the result of some synchronized parking lot ballet with a 67 Charger gone wrong all those years ago... *sigh*
